Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

After parsing through the various arguments, I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in the ring:

1) I definitely think the proposal should be on a show by show (or thread by thread if we're clumping) basis.

2) I think waiting to see if a show has legs (with the possible exception of a new Joss or Tim show) is the best way to go - I'd say at least wait until a whole season has been announced as being picked up.

3) Whitefont occasionally annoys (but also often amuses) me; it's searching for/missing the discussion that tips my annoyance scale.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

White font amuses me. Especially when folks are kindly enough to include a few non-sequitors for those of us who aren't bothering to read the rest.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I've seen some masterful whitefont, where the poster managed to leave behind complete sentences with a completely different meaning to what the full sentences read.

I wish I were that good.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

ita, you are a master of the teasing whitefont. The kind one can't help but highlight (even when it's a show one knows nothing about).

What is even happening?

ita could probably be that good if she wanted. She is so smart, it is scary.

Our wings are not tired.

That's not wrong.

Up with the sun

Based on the feedback I've gotten, I am tabling the proposal for one week. When/if I bring it back, it will be about starting specific threads for specific shows.

During that week, I would like to conduct a poll to see which shows we really are most interested in discussing. Because the poll will be nonbinding, I would like to include as many shows as possible, and discuss combining shows into single threads after we know the results. Voters will pick their top three ("no new threads" will be one option) in rank order, because I agree this is a good way to try preferential voting. The show or shows with the most points will move on to the actual ballot.

What I need help with is deciding which shows to include. My preliminary list would be Lost, Gilmore Girls, Joan of Arcadia, Survivor, Alias, Jack & Bobby, Dead Like Me, 24, Veronica Mars, The Daily Show, The OC and The Amazing Race. What else needs to be on the list?

ETA; This post will be updated to reflect suggestions.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Veronica Mars? The Daily Show? 24?

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Maybe Veronica Mars, if it survives until then.

x-post, of course.

I second the "24" suggestion (which is slated to start in January)
