I don't think there's a single show (and I include my everloving OC among them) this season that warrants a thread. Not yet, anyway, and I wouldn't know which to vote for for a couple months at best.

It's not technically infeasible, it's just practically so. Which is why I noted it wouldn't break anything (the volume may be another issue, but honestly, if I thought there was enough volume to cripple the site, I'd think there was enough volume to justify threads. And I don't).

What is the difference? I would read "technically infeasible" as meaning "the code won't do that" and "practically infeasible" as meaning "the code will do that, but it would take too much programming time to be a real option," but I don't want to put words in your mouth.

I'm fine with waiting a month or two and revisiting the idea if/when the discussion seems overwhelming.

The code can absolutely do so. However, we're backlogged in the changes we actually have had people write code on, so new functionality is a ways down the road.

Hmm. It looks to me like the shows we're throwing around seem to be clumped on certain nights - HBO Sundays, Lost and Alias on [memfault], and Thursdays with OC, Survivor, etc.

As far as I can tell, the primary issues we're trying to resolve are a)too much whitefont in Natter, b)too much whitefont period, and c)difficulty locating dicussion on shows you want to discuss.

What about one thread for What I'm Watching Right Now, with Nillys to the start of each day's Watch and Post and post-ep discussion? Since you could find specific ep discussion fairly easily, I don't think we'd need much in the way of whitefont since time-delayed folk could skip back and forth fairly easily.

Ok, even so. And I'd think we could get volunteers to do each week's Nillying, unless that would cause rights probelms in Nillytown.

eta: Didn't someone say they were running together later in the season? I could be thinking of different shows.

When would the vote start if we were to count from the origiinal proposal? Thursday afternoon, or Friday?

Edit: Also, one other questioon, since this post is just hangiing out there on its lonesome. One of the reasons the ballot is worded as it is, is that I find the idea of having to have more or less the same discussion and vote every time we want a show thread this season -- probably two or three times -- hugely depressing and boring, as it's been depressing and boring every time we've tried to start a thread in the past, and was trying to prevent that by starting (or, at least, seeing what support there was for starting) all the threads at once. To me, this is incredibly obvious. But I'm starting to think it's just me. If it's just me, the voting process should not be used to serve my particular neuroses, and I'll withdraw this and do a poll instead.

(Maybe. I'm also quite tempted to just write the best proposal I can and ride this out to the end, as an experiment in participatory democracy. If I make up my mind before I have to, there will probably be a parade.)
