Wesley: Illyria can be...difficult. Testing her might be hard without getting someone seriously hurt. Angel: We'll make Spike do it. Wesley: Good.

Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

Nobody should be disenfranchised just because they put extra 'u's in things.

Just make sure you don't use a butterfly ballot.

with a gleam in my eye, and an almost airtight alibi

Isn't the Fan Fiction thread for *discussion* of fanfiction, rather than posting of it? You should be able to use that thread, if not either of the workshop threads then, no?

Other than that, I love this idea.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Isn't the Fan Fiction thread for *discussion* of fanfiction, rather than posting of it?

Quotes would have to be stripped, since fic is quoted there (in smaller amounts than the workshop threads, natch).

Quotes are being stripped, right? I'm not sure if most of the snippets in thread are using the caret for demarcation.

A fellow makes himself conspicuous when he throws soft-boiled eggs at the electric fan.

I'm still trying to figure out how quotes would be stripped. It may not be possible.

I'll have to take a look at the Fanfic thread (I don't go in there much). It would be nice to get cites for OTP, Mary Sue, & slash ...

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

It would be nice to get cites for OTP, Mary Sue, & slash ...

Of course, those are terms that originated in fandom, rather than in Buffista land, and they're used in certain contexts here which don't necessarily represent the full usage in the wide world of fandom...

This is complicated.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Just a reminder that voting starts today at Noon PST (3pm on the east coast, 2pm Erinaceous Time). I'll post the final text and put an announcement in Press at that time. I've been working with erinaceous offline on the exact wording of the ballot, but it's almost identical to what she originally posted. I mostly just changed the text explaining the mechanics of opting in.

Yep. But we'll take what we can get. You have to know about the words first before you can go off and look for further examples ...

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

This is how words wind up with multiple different definitions, presented in a numbered list, isn't it, erin?

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I remember doing that at one point. When we were trying to explain the subtle but key difference between Buffistas' usage of 'wank' and fandom at large's use of same. I like to think ours is the more interesting usage, because it's more specific, and because it can be salutory, and because Buffistas are all special and good.

Dudes. You all have whipped out the Cheese Butt. This should be in Bureaucracy, but Jon, if you want me to update it, let me know. I've got ita's notes taken down.

Feel free to update, Nutty.

Whoops! Lost track of time. I'll post a voting announcement in Press. This thread will be closed in a moment.
