SA, I personally don't see why repurposing Previously to an Angel thread would suddenly make it verbotten to bring up a Buffy episode for discussion. But maybe that's just me & my liberal sense of thread drift.

Kat - rather than renaming the Buffy/Angel spoilers thread, perhaps we should close it, and open a new Angel Spoilers thread, instead, for the same archiving issues everyone mentioned during the repurpose vs. close discussions for other threads.

I've mentioned this in the spoilers thread. There have been no objections, and I don't see any coming, but I only posted about it this morning, and could be wrong. I said (there) that if anyone knows of a reason it's not a good idea, to pop in and mention it here.

This is how I feel, as long as we still have a specificially Buffy thread - and I think that's the rub. People feel it's redundant to have a Buffy thread, and then call the Previously thread "Previously on Buffy and Angel". I (and I think others) don't want us to lose a singular Buffy thread. It gets much more action than the Previously thread, and there's no reason the syndicated episode discussion can't go in the singular Buffy thread.

I understand the redundancy, and the want to keep the Buffy thread. I suppose I don't it does any harm to just leave it be--because I think that once Angel starts in syndication, discussion will pick up on both television shows. And since, like Jon mentioned, it doesn't mention either show, [edit: well, scratch that] and we have a continued purpose for it, it doesn't need to be touched in the housecleaning efforts.

I'm sorry if I'm being too zealous here--I just like the Previously thread the way it is.

No, but the slug (or whatever it's called, that appears under the thread name on the main page) reads, "For discussion of past seasons of Buffy."

What it actually is supposed to be (right?) is a thread to discuss what people have just seen in syndication. I think SA is making the point that the discussion is differently focused, more on a single episode, rather than on a theme. Although, I have to say, we don't know what our Buffy discussions will morph into over in the regular Buffy thread.

Why don't we think about:

• Closing our current Previously
  
• Opening a new, "Previously on Buffy and Angel"
  

(and explain it's to discuss the episodes seen in syndication)

• When Buffy 4 runs out, close it
• Open Buffy 5 without the NAFDA designation
• See what happens

If people continue using the Previously thread for a different purpose than the main show threads, we'll keep it that way. If the discussion in Previously peters out, after everyone has caught up on Angel episodes they missed (which was the point of having a Previously - when BtVS started airing on FX) - we can discuss getting rid of Previously, entirely.

This way, we won't be adding a thread; we'll just be broadening the purpose of one, and we can give ourselves time to see if it's redundant. I expect (particularly in the case of BtVS) it will be. And it shouldn't be needed for Angel, forever.
