Buffy: A Guide, but no water or food. So it leads me to the sacred place and then a week later it leads you to my bleached bones? Giles: Buffy, really. It takes more than a week to bleach bones.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Cool, Plei.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I agree with Michele T.

I think this change will strike a nice balance between enjoyment of the show and enjoyment on this board via better discussions in the show topics.

I don't think it will ruin anything for anyone as long as no one also give away story spoilers with the casting like "I just read on TheWB site that Xander is joining the cast of Angel to fix and marry Cordelia!"

This is the only slippery slope I see.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

To follow up on candyb's post, if we announce the casting spoilers now, it's going to be easier to make sure that only the casting stuff gets announced, since there's not much out there on other points yet.

I don't personally feel that the slope is all that slippery. There's no plot information that can be gleaned from knowing changes to the regular cast only, beyond "S5 will include plots that involve Angel."

And I am SO glad this is finally being brought to a head.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Plus, casting spoilers for the main cast are pretty widely known before promos air. But if people who know those casting changes want to discuss it in Spoilers, but those people aren't hard-core spoiler whores, they might find out that (for instance) Gunn's never-before-mentioned wife and baby will be on the show in episode 4, because they're on the run from the demon mafia.

Up with the sun

I don't have anything to add other, than "Thank god, FINALLY," either. Maybe an effective date?

Also, I'd change "spoilers" in the first sentence to "changes" -- it's kinda silly to call them spoilers when the whole point is it's not a spoiler.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

In Angel season 1, was Doyle leaving and Wesley coming on advertised ahead of time? That's the sort of main-credits-casting-spoiler I definitely would not have wanted to read about here ahead of time.

(Moving this down, since there were so many posts made while I was editing:)

[edit: It didn't make it into the wording posted at the beginning of this discussion, but there was some suggestion that we apply this new spoiler definition only to changes made over the summer. So, Wesley leaving the show after S4 = not spoilery. Buffy being added to the regular cast midseason = spoiler.]
