"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'm turning 64 this year and I'm still thrown when quite obviously old people smile and nod at me in acknowledgment as if I was in their age cohort (which I am).

Matilda has norovirus, which is sweeping through Japan now. Many of her classmates also got hit.

I talked to her last night. I think she's on the mend but she lost some days at school. Side note on the puppy she wants to adopt: She told her host mom that she wanted to adopt the puppy, and Otasan said (in Japanese): "Fight! Fight! Fight!"

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Otasan said (in Japanese): "Fight! Fight! Fight!"

Do you think that was approval? Encouragement?

Disapproval? Caution?

Perhaps "It will be very difficult and take a lot of effort?"

A couple I know got Covid at a recent convention -- they've held it off for over 5 years now.

I still haven't had Covid.

I take it as kind of an imperfect shorthand for people who are no longer active and engaged with the world (whatever that looks like in their personal circumstances ) or interested in new things.

Yah, same for my mom.

Stay healthy out there, people. I'm still masking up. Until Seph tells me to stop, ha!

She was urging Matilda to not give up and fight for the puppy.

Impressive, ND! I got it for the first time (that I know of) last July. But there’s a wave going around and I have a very painful swollen lymph node, so I’m not sure if I’m getting sick or fighting it off or if it’s something else entirely. Fingers crossed. Texted negative yesterday and feel otherwise fine but…ordered more tests.

I feel old when hanging out with some of the dance folk, and young with others. I feel VERY old when one of the people I think of as the younger crowd mentions that she thinks of another group as the younger crowd and that she’s old. Makes me double old!

ND, you're like the kid in The Last of Us! We need the secret to your Covid resistance superpower.

Human barometer news: a weather front is moving is, and my knees ache and my right hip is made entirely out of fire. I don't care for that shit at all.
