I missed that your new car was a hybrid, Theodosia. Neat! My current car was the first one I ever bought new and the last one I’ll ever buy internal combustion. But I don’t have any way to charge at home for now.

I forgot to say hi to Emily. Hi!
Disassociating from the news for a few days.Same.
I cut way back on Meta just by unpinning the FB tab on my laptopI just logged off and removed my bookmark. It's not a forever permanent thing. Yet. I doubt I honestly will miss much. The local groups get ugly anyway.
It has been my assumption for many years that all of my personal info is available to anyone who really wants it.Oh definitely but I'm tired of voluntarily letting them push their political bend to me.
Will the board take me back? What Parker said. Always welcome and a welcome font to see.
and happily read about the slew of last minute pardons. That is good. TFG is just not okay in the head.
Hope you feel better quickly, Epic.
I never got into Twitter and I’m not sure Bluesky works for me (it’s a lot of people reposting the same things) but I’m there. And still trying to figure out disengaging from FB and IG. For today I took them off my phone so I don’t go out of habit. (I’m laharbin on Bluesky, which I always call “Blooski” in my head)
I'm enjoying Bluesky, but it's a Twitter replacement, not FB.
UGH, I went out to shovel the driveway and de-snow-ify the cars this morning and discovered that I'd left an interior light all night and now my battery is dead. I'm going to hold off calling AAA until the roads have been fully cleared since my Prius is not built for randomly driving around in the snow for funsies.
I was having some battery issues a couple of years ago and ended up buying this really amped up power thingy. It jumps everything super easy but also can inflate a tire, provide a spotlight or charge devices.
It cost about 100 bucks at Costco, but it’s been such peace of mind, that minor lapses like that are barely a blip rather than a big PITA. (I also have one tire that tends to lose air pressure for some reason, the mechanic can’t figure out, so that’s a big anxiety point dealt with also.
But what’s also delightful is I’ve been able to jump three or four people who I noticed in trouble. It’s so fast and easy that I feel like I’m always on the alert for people standing around with their hood up, looking helpless. I can help!

Brenda is a SuperHero!
Much tummy ~ma to Epic and plumbing ~ma to JenP. I am going to the grocery store with my uncle today.
I'm still looking for a LiveJournal replacement, I am so old. I will try Bluesky.
That’s nice Brenda! I’d probably buy it and then realize I was not confident using it and end up calling AAA anyway.
I am also not a Twitter person, so Bluesky is not really doing it for me. But it’s a bummer seeing yet another social media break down. Damn you capitalism! You’re why we can’t have nice things!
For time wasting purposes and staying in touch with culture I am glad TikTok is back even if temporarily, but it does creep me out expecting the new turn the propaganda will take. Def not the same as keeping up with friends, either.

It giveth and it taketh away. Realistically, I don't know if we'll ever get a true replacement for FB, which had evolved into something with some serious great functionality (that's been less and less functional lately, but still exceeds the other options out there). The alternatives that are great for text suck for images and video (hosting those being $$$$$ and more fraught), and most of them have a high barrier to entry.
I'm half-assedly using Bluesky to keep up with some people, but as someone who never loved Twitter, it's still not my jam. I do have reblogs turned off, which helps weed out the political stuff that I just do not want to see anywhere. (Sorry, but I have come to believe that posting about politics ad nauseam or reblogging political posts all the time or reading any of the above does more harm than good.)
I do have reblogs turned off
oh! good one. I just did that. too many people reblogging the same thing. and too many authors reblogging anyone who posts their bits.
