That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Cranberry pie is made, courtesy of DH, and cheesy biscuits are made, courtesy of the 12-year-old. I've chopped veggies for roasting tomorrow. I'll also make the salad tomorrow while DH makes the main dish, a vegetarian shepherd's-pie-type of thing. We'll have a few guests who'll bring the rest. I think we're fairly well-stocked on drinks. The kids did a good job of helping us tidy today, and may even be willing to vacuum tomorrow morning.

We've more often travelled to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving these last few years, and I have to say I am really enjoying being home this year. Even with the work of hosting it still feels like a more relaxing break.

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate. I'm so grateful to have you all in my life.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Cranberry pie is made, courtesy of DH

Cranberry pie sounds really good!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Cranberry pie sounds amazing! Say more!

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

Hey guys, happy Tgiving eve.

1. Discover one of your credit cards is missing 2. Remember you took it out in the laundromat yesterday 3. Check everywhere you can think, fail to find it 4. Call to cancel the card and order a new one 5. Head to the parents' house for Thanksgiving 6. Have your father find the missing card in the pocket of the shirt you were wearing in the laundry you brought down with you

*SIGH*

At least they know me well enough not to be surprised.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I think of Cindy every time I see a chicklet and think of her son swallowing his tooth.

What was the exact phrasing? I could maybe search but I’d rather hear it from anyone who remembers. Something like it was square and white so he swallowed it. Which really answered all of the questions

I feel like, "and it looked like a tooth," was in there somewhere.

Now tagless for your comfort.

It was white, square and looked like a tooth.

Man. That child is a man now!

Tep, the bubble wrap suit sounds good. We named a derby teammate Bubble Wrap for her injuries. PT is probably a good thing, too. Falls only get more dangerous with time.

I am walking!!! With a cane, and very slowly. But walking, nonetheless. I think I’m going to take an extra week off (maybe two more). It’s disappointing because I thought I’d be able to just walk. Ha! The knee is stiff, the muscles sore and weak. I need to work harder on my PT.

Cash! Bearing weight and stuff. Congratulations!

I guess I'm up, even though it didn't need to be this early. Minor cleaning, a shower, and a quick pack -- maybe we can even get off by 8a. That'd be cool.

I keep saying I'm going to start Tai Chi for balance betterment. Saying does not equal doing, sadly. Plus, it just looks kind of fun. What is my problem?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I’ve tried tai chi. It was kinda fun. It maybe helped my balance—martial arts things generally do. Then the class ended, and there wasn’t an immediate follow up, so I lost the habit. I’ll have to find something local. Anyway, Steph, I hope you find a way to stop falling soon, whether it’s electrolytes, PT, or tai-chi. Or bubble wrap, but that seems like it might have an annoying squeak factor.

Fun tai-chi side note. When I took it last spring, I (56 then) and my friend who joined me (61) were the youngest people there. We figured this would be an increasing rarity in martial arts classes, so we enjoyed it while it lasted.

Leifur has decided he doesn’t want to eat today. Pretty sure he’s upset about the move, but if it continues more than a day or so I’ll move up “find a new vet” on the list. He’s still drinking plenty.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Btw, I’m reliably informed that White and Square is set to get his Masters in January. Which seems fully impossible but there you have it.
