Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Pumpkin pie is in the oven, and that's all the prep we need to do for tomorrow. We're also taking really good cheese for appetizers, sourdough rolls that we'll bake at Mom's house, and ice cream. (Whenever we go to Tim's family, we bring wine, but my mom and stepdad are in the wine fandom, so they always have excellent wine.)

My side is very very very sore from falling in the ā€” did I mention? ā€” CAST-IRON tub. Ouch. When Tim got home, he very solemnly agreed I need PT for my balance. He's a little freaked out by how often I've taken some moderately bad tumbles. (I am, too.)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I remember that! You know, in the way we all remember stuff about each other's lives that we weren't actually there for.

Indeed. I think of Cindy every time I see a chicklet and think of her son swallowing his tooth.

I also think of Zenkitty when I see Icelandic volcanoes.

Our wings are not tired

Kristin is in the midst of prep. I'm still in a tech rehearsal but am looking forward to getting home later tonight. Tomorrow I'll help with cleanup and the final push to get things ready for guests and then we have our wonderful time with our found family.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Happy Days, Buffistas all!

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Cranberry pie is made, courtesy of DH, and cheesy biscuits are made, courtesy of the 12-year-old. I've chopped veggies for roasting tomorrow. I'll also make the salad tomorrow while DH makes the main dish, a vegetarian shepherd's-pie-type of thing. We'll have a few guests who'll bring the rest. I think we're fairly well-stocked on drinks. The kids did a good job of helping us tidy today, and may even be willing to vacuum tomorrow morning.

We've more often travelled to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving these last few years, and I have to say I am really enjoying being home this year. Even with the work of hosting it still feels like a more relaxing break.

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate. I'm so grateful to have you all in my life.

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

Hey guys, happy Tgiving eve.

1. Discover one of your credit cards is missing 2. Remember you took it out in the laundromat yesterday 3. Check everywhere you can think, fail to find it 4. Call to cancel the card and order a new one 5. Head to the parents' house for Thanksgiving 6. Have your father find the missing card in the pocket of the shirt you were wearing in the laundry you brought down with you

*SIGH*

At least they know me well enough not to be surprised.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I think of Cindy every time I see a chicklet and think of her son swallowing his tooth.

What was the exact phrasing? I could maybe search but Iā€™d rather hear it from anyone who remembers. Something like it was square and white so he swallowed it. Which really answered all of the questions

I feel like, "and it looked like a tooth," was in there somewhere.
