Our wings are not tired.

My son is flying down for Christmas so that will improve things. He and the GF will be here 25th to the 2nd. I still haven't decided what to do about Thanksgiving. I was going to run away somewhere because DH has basketball. Now my brother is in such bad shape, and my sister will be coming here as soon as she can travel. So all is up in the air.

Thrive to spite them

In No The Onion headline...the Onion has bought InfoWars at the bankruptcy auction. I'm sure Alex Jones will find some other platform to see his hate but it won't be InfoWars

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

It's unfortunate that this has been reported so widely - I would *love* to see the Onion leave the Infowars onsite branding 100% intact and just troll Jones' followers FOREVER.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Just what I was thinking, Jess. Still worth a try!

That's hilarious. Good on The Onion.

I am actually engaging with the news more than I have for the last decade, but I'm actively not engaging in any long doom spiral discussions with friends or family -- that's where I'm currently protecting myself.

I'm able to follow the news with some emotional detachment, which I haven't been capable of for a long time. I'm basically just saving up my resources for the chaos to come so I can figure out what I can do about it when it comes -- but trying to predict doesn't feel like a good use of those resources right now.

And I'm trying to appreciate the bejesus out of everything good I encounter.

I'm feeling snarky today. I had to bite my tongue before I was really snarky/bitchy to the Ops manager. He was in the dairy cooler trying to get things straightened and complaining about how bad it is and how it's the worst it's been since he got to this store.

And i wanted to say "if only there was someone or some way to hold people accountable..." Because that is part of his job.

I went on twitter from a link I found about the Onion buying InfoWars and it looks like there are Alex Jones supporters think the Onion WANTED InfoWars so they could keep it the same. I looked t some profiles it doesn't look like these are people just playing along but actually believe that the Onion was going this for Infowars

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

Karl, I feel you about SF conventions. I'm a lot less enthused to go than I used to, and much more into online communities.

I checked CNN to see if there was any good news, and Lindsey Vonn is coming out of retirement to join the US ski team!

I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

Chris, that is exciting! I don't think Ms Vonn and PK Subban of NHL fame are together anymore, but they made a very foamy power couple a few years ago. (I will confess that I liked Mr Subban much better in Montreal bleu-blanc-et-rouge than in that awful Nashville yellow.)

Beverly my dear, I love you too. You have been so warm and steady for me in times when my life has not been long on warmth and steadiness. And I hear you on passing the torch on US electoral politics, and slowly letting go. I will do what I can with what I have, but I think I need to focus on mitigating harm to others now rather than throwing bricks at fascists.

Drew, thanks very much for the hug at JZ's gathering. It was awfully good to see you, even though the reason was heartbreaking.

This is a good gang to be a part of, and I'm glad to be here.

FFS. I mean, I get it, it IS frustrating, but it has been 2 weeks and I can all but guarantee you I would have figured a way to get around and do stuff on my crutches in 2 weeks.

I hope they impressed upon him not putting weight on the foot. It truly sucks if it doesn't gt to heal properly.

Hi Karl! Hi chrismg! Good to see old familiar fonts.

Just got back from a super quick trip to see my brother. I'll get over for a few days probably by this weekend. He looks like hell and has lost tons of weight, but his attitude seems good.
