I dropped off my ballot at the gym this morning (it really is a very convenient polling place) and have been in a meeting most of the morning that absorbed most of my attention so other than the whole "election uncertainty impacting our revenue outlook for the balance of the year" discussion (the general stance people are admitting to is "either way people will need to cook, right?" which is kind of comforting) linking to the "are we all going to get laid off?" discussion I'm doing pretty well. Considering what kind of comfort food to have for lunch
Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
How's everyone doing so far?
"Thankfully" this is my first day back to work after over a week away, so I have distraction in the form of trying to comb through my Slack and email.
Busy day so far. Skinner started the day with digestive issues at 6AM. (yuck) Maybe anxiety from being home or traveling, more likely he ate something his very first visit to his favorite dog park. Dealt with that and took him to the park again, watching closely. Got home and marked up the sample ballots to take to the polls. (efficient) Cleaned up another round of Skinner deposits. (at least he does so right in front of the door) Drugged him. Went and voted!! (patriotism!) No wait with plenty of staff and machines. Steady stream of people. Early vote seems to have the crazy lines here while day of vote is smooth. Went out to eat breakfast at my favorite joint for such. (Egg n You) Went to the grocery store to buy requirements for tonight. (wine) No more messes from Skinner while we were out voting, dining, and shopping. (YAY!!) Put away the groceries and tossed some chicken/rice/pumpkin in the instant pot for Skinner to eat the next couple days. (yum)
Now putting my feet up while I summons the energy to go downstairs for a swim.
Watching polls in PA . In a very red precinct but lots of Dems too. Going smoothly so far.
Glad to hear it's going smoothly, lisah.
Glad you made it back safe and sound, Laura -- so great to see you both!
Good to hear, lisah!
There is no gang of people, physical or virtual, that I would rather have around me as I wait for news that might be wonderful or might be catastrophic.
You folks have been, and continue to be, the most amazing group of Friends in the Lighted Box that I could ever ask for. I'm really quite fond of all of you.
Global All-Hands took three hours out of my day, and it was kind of refreshing to take a temporary break from feeling terrified about the election to relax into the familiar sense of feeling angry about 5-day RTO.

That emotional roller coaster needs some ups to go with the downs.
Back at you. Karl, bunkie.
