Thrive to spite them

I heard from Dad...he lost power but no trees down at his place. I tried calling Mom after I hadn't heard from her but got a no service message so I guess she is without power and cell service or maybe just cell service.

Our power has not come back on. I read 1.3 million people on SC don't have power.

I'm mad at myself because I made a point to buy these xl body wipes for people who can't bathe so we could not take cold showers (when the hot water runs out) and I remember scanning them and bagging them and I swear I put them in my cart but I realized this morning they hadn't made it to my car.

I did remember the dry shampoo. I was tired and there was a line and this is why I hate grocery shopping after work I always forget something somewhere on the process.

There are limbs down all over, a neighbor's small tree came down in our yard. We have one power bank that I think is fully charged.

One of my Academy Trainers texted me with "Don't you dare go into work today it's too dangerous". I told her I'd already marked myself absent on the app. She said the morning Academy Trainer called out because a tree fell on her house (I don't have her number ). EL (the trainer I was talking to) told me she was totally freaked out and in the bathtub with the cat and her boyfriend in the bathroom.i don't know if they were all in the tub. So I texted her to distract her until her phone is as almost dead. She didn't have the weather channel app so I kept letting her know the hourly forecast and how I've been through similar.

I'm not going to try and go in at all. It's still really windy and I don't think anyone in town has power so I doubt the traffic lights are working. I occasionally hear a car go by.

It's hot and humid.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Poor Tim woke up with Covid today. It's pretty mild so far -- no fever, but stuffy head and minor cough and aches. He's waiting to hear back from his doctor about Paxlovid. I tested negative, but I am genuinely still recovering from whatever I got in Colorado. At this point I'm just assuming it was the flu, because (1) it's lasted so long, and (2) it's only now, as I'm feeling less bad, that I'm realizing how absolutely fucking sick I was last week.

Basically, the healthiest creature in the house is Murderbiscuit, and he is a terrible nursemaid.

We have rain and super high winds from the edges of Helene, so we're charging everything chargeable. A lot of areas have lost power, but so far we still have it.

I hope it stays mild for Tim.

The size of these storms is ridiculous. A large percentage of the country will feel this one. Again.

eta: At least it looks like Isaac and Joyce are fish storms.

Tim's doctor called in Paxlovid, so it's good he can start it so quickly.

My brother is disappointed that the J-name for the upcoming storm isn't Absolute Fucking Shitstorm Jeffrey.

Our wings are not tired.

Joyce is going just to be a nothing out to sea storm. We'll save Jeff for a real storm.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I hope you and Tim feel better soon, Steph.

Power~ma, askye.

We’ve lost power and had it restored twice today, so far. There’ve also been two tornado warnings, but they didn’t seem to touch down near me, so I just spent some quality time in the bathroom with the cats until the all-clear. (The bathroom is the only place in the apartment without windows.)

Stay safe and powered, peeps. Askye, I hope your power returns as fast as possible.

Short and mild case vibes for Tim. My friend here has it, too. Another two local friends just got over it. It's certainly out and about.

I have chicken orzo soup on the stove. White meat and stock from a roasted chicken, then some ginger, onion, corn, adobo, smoked paprika. A hodgepodge! Smells really good.

This will be a working weekend for me for some portion, so comfort soup seemed appropriate.

Our wings are not tired.

Making chicken soup does make for a lovely aroma.

I just put my 77-item order together to pick up on Monday in advance of SIL's visit on Tuesday. It will be a week of going back to my vegetarian ways to feed her family. It's been a while since I grocery-shopped for little kids! I think I did a good job. Lots of fruit and mini bagel pizzas and stuff. Also got smores fixings and metal sticks that extend to 45" to use in my backyard fire pit.

I'm going to repeat the pumpkin chili I made the other day because it was yum. Also have ingredients for a vegan meatloaf made with baby bellas and chick peas, sesame tofu and broccoli, corn & ricotta pasta, butternut squash curry, and other nice looking recipes.

Glad to hear that folks are weathering the storm.

Today has been a lot of reprogramming and testing systems remotely so that Six Flags Over Texas has haunted houses that are working better.

Last night I was at Dark Harbor until about 11pm working on finishing touches on that system.
