Mal: Yeah, well, just be careful. We cheated Badger out of good money to buy that frippery, and you're supposed to make me look respectable. Kaylee: Yes, sir, Captain Tightpants.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Fuck cancer.

My boss was diagnosed. I don’t know the details, but I think early stage breast. She is not up on her healthcare, so I’m glad she got checked this year, apparently she doesn’t normally. She’s 67 and this is on top of almost a month of various other health things including diminished kidney and liver function they’ve been watching.

msbelle, that sucks. Fuck cancer.

I'm going to send a thank-you cheese box to my college roommate who hosted us last week. I've heard people say good stuff about Zingerman's -- is that a good choice?

Mr. Scola’s wardrobe by Botany 500

So I was CRAVING fried fish for lunch, and I found a nearby restaurant called "Harlem Seafood Soul" and ordered the fish & grits from an app. When I got there the lady at the counter told me that they were out of grits, so I had to settle for fish & chips. And it was TERRIBLE. I'm SO DISAPPOINTED. the cornbread was good tho

I am shaking my tiny fist in their direction on your behalf, Scola.

I also kind of want cornbread now.

That’s a bummer Scola! I hate when you’re so in the mood for something and it doesn’t work like it should.

I too have heard good things about Zingermans, Teppy. But have never tried.

I am so not sure what to do about trying to get this rx from the doctor. It doesn’t seem to be working and I’m not sure how much I can pester them, but I really want it and can’t afford the full price stuff.

Indeed! Also, fries are not grits. Boo.

I'm sorry, msbelle. I hope they have good treatment options that don't aggravate her kidney/liver issues.

Zingermans is awesome!

I'm having a hard time deciding what cheeses to send! Plus, I want all the cheeses for me! And most of the baked goods.

Thrive to spite them

There was a bad storm that came through last night and we are fine but the power went out at work around 8 pm. I wasn't there but the power still wasn't back when I went in today at 9 am. There was the emergency back up but that could run lights and some of the coolers/freezers but that was it. At some point yesterday they had brought in a refrigerated truck and got a lot moved into that.

And then around 11 or so they got a big generator working and we had full power. Which means they let customers in and that was not fun trying to get cold items on the shelves as customers were wandering by asking us what was going on. They finally blocked off the area so the customers weren't right in our way.

I took cold medicine but still felt terrible so used a little of my protected PTO to leave early and go to the walk in clinic. I have a bad cold but I did get prescription for an inhaler, steroids, and tesslon pearls for my cough so hopefully I'll be feeling better.

I hadn't called Dad and talked to him in awhile so I called to check in on him and what's going on with Hurricane Helene -he said he's done all his storm prep he can. There are mandatory evacuations for anyone in Leon County in a mobile or manufactured home--usually it's just the coastal counties that get mandatory evacuations but Helene could come right through Tallahassee at a Category 4. He said he wasn't worried about extensive damage to the beach place even though it's a manufactured home, the beach homes surrounding it are all 2 story and so it gets a little protection from that. Storm surge isn't an issue since it's 16 feet above sea level.

Here the schools are closing Friday and after school activities are canceled Thursday. I think we will be ok in terms of power since we are downtown and power outages are usually fixed quickly.

Cat 4 means evacuate to me. I hope he will be okay. If he has been through big storms there he should have an idea of where it gets flooded.
