Theo, I would have had the same compulsion. I often make people take off their rings and such so I can handle them (I mean, not random people; friends who know about my quirks).

Yay on tracking + desired weight loss. I've been tracking mine for about a week now, and it's def making a difference. Imagine that! Anyway -- you have a tracking buddy now!

I thought tracking would make me obsessive and control-freaky, but it's mostly just interesting to see the data. Like, I get a lot of fiber on a daily basis. A LOT. But I have to actively work to hit my protein goal (which is a pain in the ass).

Yeah, that's a large part of why I started -- to get my ratios right-ish among carbs, fats, and protein. My doc was like, "Do you eat enough protein?" And I said, "Well, I'm pretty sure, because if there's no protein in my meal, then I don't really think of it as a meal, so..." Turns out I was right.

The apps have gotten so fast and useful now, I don't get stuck/sucked in getting every little detail right, so it helps me not be obsessive.

Yeah, it seems to make a big difference with me too. Doing keto it is easy to have too much protein and not enough fat. Getting to 70% fat is a challenge, but macadamia nuts FTW. (90% of their calories from fat) I get so much protein from the collagen peptides I take for my deteriorating bones, and I drink a max protein ensure most days. I didn't eat meat for 35 years so I still am not in the habit of eating a lot of it. Just the peptides and ensure have me at 50 grams of protein. But now that I rejoined the carnivores I will down a cheeseburger from time to time.

I am pretty loose about the tracking, while DH is a freak even asking me if it was 6 or 8 cherry tomatoes in his salad. Weighs everything. Dude!

chocolate oat ice cream bars at TJs

The keto ice cream bars are so super tasty! I wonder if I could make keto ice cream. Probably, I shall research.

I've been back on keto about a month. I miss my morning oatmeal with fruit and nuts, but a spinach feta omelet and bacon would comfort that loss.

Tracking is the only way I have ever successfully lost weight. Which apps do y'all use?

I did not take any decongestant last night and slept fine, breathing and feeling fine, but the Covid test is still strongly positive. Maybe not QUITE as strong but…ugh. I want to get back to normal life. Had to Amazon more Covid tests to myself. Which of course meant I had to throw in a few other goodies as well. Like you do.

Keto would not work for me. But I’m crossing my fingers I can stay anywhere near my current weight. But protein is hard! I’ve been not only using the high protein fairlife milk in my iced coffee but also adding in half a scoop of protein powder. Hoping that helps.

I use good ol' Fitness Pal.

I've been making Greek yogurt smoothies w/ oat milk, fruit, and protein powder, and then I feel virtuous about my "milkshake," ha!

And I don't know what it is, but I have been absolutely craving hamburgers for the past few weeks. Well, I do know part of what it is is the yummy fat, which I'm supposed to keep low... so there's that. But I treat myself. Life is for living, and I'm going to eat me a burger from time to time.

Thrive to spite them

Wal Mart is leaning heavily into keto and high protein stuff. With the remodel going we are getting a lot of things, I'm not sure how well they will do at our store (so I'm looking forward to when we stop selling some things and I can grab some clearance deals), I'm thinking about starting to have some of the protein oatmeal options for a snack.

Also the one product type that really amuses me is Porq panko ...it's not panko, it's pork rinds that are ground up. It amuses me because , well you could just grind your own. Also I'm amused that ground up pork rinds for a coating on food is considered better than bread crumbs.

We’re leaving for vacation today and are only an hour behind our optimistic departure time. This is our first time taking a long trip in the hybrid, so I’m curious to see how it does, fuel-wise.
