Thrive to spite them

My day started ok and then took a turn for the bad. But I'm currently in the bathtub with snacks , a book and noise cancelling stuff and I plan to be here for awhile

I realized what I could use is a small cooler to help keep some things cold while I soak and until I'm ready to nibble on them or drink. I'm possibly being OTT but I don't care.

Ugh. Yesterday had a migraine and felt off, but was hoping it was just the migraine. But today, definitely am getting sick. I had plans for today and tomorrow dam it!

Thrive to spite them

I'm feeling better after a soak and some nice nibbley food. I have discovered that sour cream and salsa verde mixed together (more sour cream than salsa) and eaten scooped up by pan toasted sourdough bread is a really good comfort snack. I had salty, crunchy, sweet, sour, savory, soft and creamy. I forgot the chocolate but that's ok.

Bath 1 is done. I'm going to futz around and then I'm going to do some self care in the form of purging items and doing some organizing. I spent the last couple of days reading This You Protect by owlet (amazing Captain America fanfic with Bucky & Steve and about Bucky Barnes recovery), I don't think it was maybe the best for my mindset but it was good and reinforced cheese and baths as self care.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Vaguely snack related - some people found a baby owl that had fallen out of its nest. They called a raptor rehabilitation center and told them they'd found the baby and the rehabilitators went to collect it. One odd thing - the baby bird seemed cold, so they warmed up a tortilla and wrapped the baby in it (no intention of eating it, but it was what they had they could warm up and use to wrap the baby bird). Baby bird was collected by the rehabilitators and, while odd, it was warm.

Our wings are not tired.

Good thinking. Although an owl tortilla would be upsetting.

I am proud of myself for a very simple thing, which is that I made a lunch that involved cooking in a PAN and chopping a vegetable... it's been a while. Anyway, I'm calling it Turkey Tomato Stroganoff, and it is damn tasty! And it met my nutritional objectives, so that's a win.

In not great news of the last week... DH's project at work did not get a contract renewal, and he is going to be out of the job as of next month, with a small severance, but, hey, better than nothing. We'll be fine -- I already crunched the numbers, and living with more attention to frugality (which, let's face it, is a habit that I could stand to exercise more...), it's actually better than I thought when I first got the news. But still, he is bummed, and the tech job market ain't what it used to be, and age can be a challenge if we're honest. So, all good vibes appreciated.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Yay for Turkey Tomato Stroganoff! Boo on contract non-renewal!

It's a glorious day in San Francisco and once Matilda is forcibly evicted from her bed we'll clean the Guinea Pig cage.

I'm feeling beset by mortality. My FB memories are all on an inevitable track into the darkest timeline. Still feeling sad about Cupid's death (the dog we frequently dogsat). And my friend Josh, who was such a help and support during Jacqueline's cancer treatment, looks like he's nearing the end after five years of cancer treatment. We discussed the realities of hospice when I called him.

Still, it was a good call with all the lashings of black humor we've always had in our friendship. I'm going to talk to his wife about all the transition issues that come up. His daughter is Matilda's age.

This is the case. Also, there will be much more interest in an election season that a large percentage wasn't paying attention to. Yes, there may be some who come out to vote against her, but if they are that passionately bigoted they were already going to vote for Trump. There are a lot more people who were completely numb to the election that now have a choice they can get behind.
This is where my head is, too.

Hugs, Hec. I've been thinking about you.
