"You should never say bad things about the dead, only good… Joan Crawford is dead. Good.” —Bette Davis

I think at this point Harris' experience and involvement with the current administration makes her the best choice, though I tend to align slightly better ideologically with Warren and (never gonna be President) Sanders. Still, presenting the most electable candidate is of utmost importance with 45 and Project 2025 waiting in the wings, whether that's VP Harris, Governor Newsom, Governor Whitmer, or a surprise Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce ticket.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I’m hearing chatter about NC Gov. Cooper. Cooper is a Dem. who has done his best to hold back the batshit crazy from the NC legislature, which has a veto-proof Republican majority. The state is purple, just gerrymandered to hell and back. We could do worse.

But yeah, a Harris/Warren ticket would be the chef’s kiss emoji.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

My anxiety is fucking tired of unprecedented times.

God, yes, this

Our wings are not tired.

I've been extremely annoyed with all the dems calling for Biden to step down. He deserved better. That said, I've heard so many younger people complain about 2 old white guys. A large percentage of the population just wasn't interested. This move provides a more obvious choice for those who don't pay close attention. There will be a lot more interest in the election and the more people pay attention the more they will see what this choice represents.

Personally, I think Whitmer would be a great choice. A two-woman ticket would spark a great deal of interest in the race. The people who would never vote for a woman were always going to vote for Trump anyway. Women have always had a higher turnout percentage, and some unknown percentage would be excited to vote for the first time for that ticket.

Who knows, I'm in the cat hairball before Trump camp anyway so it doesn't change my vote. I just can't help but think it will improve turnout because there were so many that hated both old guys.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

(I don’t think I’ll ever be able to watch Mischa Collins in anything ever again without feeling twitchy about impending news. )

Ha! Same.

Kentucky's governor Andy Beshear is on the short list for VP nominee. He got elected as a democrat in fucking Kentucky, he's Southern, he's affable, he's white -- I honestly think he'd be a good pick.

Thrive to spite them

Swift/Kelce ticket would be interesting...I'm imagining Travis Kelce as the First Gentleman and the speeches he'd make.

Also the Secret Service having to figure out the logistics of dealing with friendship bracelets. And Jason Kelce.

It's amusing.

My week has been so stressful. I left early and went to Aldi to supply myself for nibbly meals the next two days (my weekend !!woot!). Except they are out of a lot of stuff because it was Sunday evening. But I bought a lot of cheese. I thought of Teppy while I was buying it

I got regular sliced cheese and a Chipotle chili cheddar sliced cheese, Gouda, and a grass fed cheddar. And mozzarella balls. And bread and crackers and fruit and salami. I also plan to spend a great deal of time in the bath or under a weighted blanket. I have a bath tray so I'm going to have an IG/Tik Tok bath with snacks but no wine since I don't drink it.

Also I would also vote for Calli's cat's hairball instead of Trump.

At 59, Harris is also barely still in Gen X, and damn it, one of us needs to be POTUS.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Jason has friendship bracelets down.

I've been extremely annoyed with all the dems calling for Biden to step down. He deserved better.

How was this conversation not better held two years ago? Or a year ago? It's a few weeks before the convention. I am team No More Old White Guys but I'm still puzzled how this doesn't hand more votes to Trump. Moot point now.

I really think that all the people who are going to vote for Trump are already accounted for. I don't think anyone is undecided between Trump and [Democratic candidate]; I think they've been undecided between Biden and [not voting]. So this may push some of those anti-Biden undecideds from [not voting] to [Democratic candidate].
