They should film that story and show it every Christmas.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

Apparently That Former Presidents incoherent rambling speech went well past midnight, leading Emily Nussbaum on Bluesky to say, “Man, just ascend already” which is making my morning.

That is awesome!

There’s a possibility that *I* might be working retail soon, because I really can’t stand my chosen career any more, for reasons you might guess.

Because your boss won’t ascend already? Or just because careers are dumb and capitalism sucks?

I woke up to a text from IT about some global outage but then see that sadly everything seems to have been restored in time for me to actually work today. Boooo.

Hmm or maybe not. The recommended advice was to try restarting my computer five times. It’s still going.

I can, however, see emails on my phone, so…Joy.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

The solution to this IT problem is for IT people to tediously, manually fix every single machine that's been affected, so I imagine that's what's got Scola reconsidering his career.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yeah, I saw an email this morning about that mess affecting our servers. Glad I took the day off.

Emily Nussbaum = gold

Ugh. After months of planning I had a friend flying out to see me today. Her flight is cancelled, and the trip is off. We can't reschedule until mid-August. Huge disappointment.

I work with Linux systems, and the outage today only affected Windows systems, so I wasn’t DIRECTLY affected by it, thank god. (I did bring in muffins for the Windows team that sits two rows over from me).

Even still, seeing the news this morning caused me to freak the fuck out. Next time I won’t be as lucky, and it’s only a matter of time before it happens.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

A bunch of our vendor-facing retail tools are down right now, and BOY what a relief it is to be able to tell them that unlike in 2017, this is DEFINITELY not Amazon's fault.

Aimee posted on FB that she's been stranded for 7 hours at the start of her trip because of the outage.
