You know, I've saved lives. Dozens. Maybe hundreds. I reattached a girl's leg. Her whole leg. She named her hamster after me. I got a hamster. He drops a box of money, he gets a town.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I woke up to a text from IT about some global outage but then see that sadly everything seems to have been restored in time for me to actually work today. Boooo.

Ugh. After months of planning I had a friend flying out to see me today. Her flight is cancelled, and the trip is off. We can't reschedule until mid-August. Huge disappointment.

Mr. Scola’s wardrobe by Botany 500

I work with Linux systems, and the outage today only affected Windows systems, so I wasn’t DIRECTLY affected by it, thank god. (I did bring in muffins for the Windows team that sits two rows over from me).

Even still, seeing the news this morning caused me to freak the fuck out. Next time I won’t be as lucky, and it’s only a matter of time before it happens.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

A bunch of our vendor-facing retail tools are down right now, and BOY what a relief it is to be able to tell them that unlike in 2017, this is DEFINITELY not Amazon's fault.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Aimee posted on FB that she's been stranded for 7 hours at the start of her trip because of the outage.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I saw someone on Twitter claiming that Southwest isn't affected because they still use Windows 3.1, and I can't tell if that's a joke.

Thrive to spite them

Ugh. I bought several Hanes cooling t shirts. They had good reviews and recommendations and for awhile they did what they were supposed to. The fabric gets cold

But today it just was holding in the heat and I had to be in the back room longer than normal and so I got really hot. And sweaty. I thought I had cooled down ok I even changed shirts (there was a clean one in my car I've been meaning to take inside) and I started getting brain foggy. I did finally stop for lunch.

It's not the hottest day it's been but it's very humid. Lunch as been some chicken salad, celery sticks, yogurt, watermelon (maybe I might save it for a snack) and I got a electrolyte drink mix that I mixed with electrolyte water . I am feeling a little better.

Always Anti-fascist!

Asking for -ma for my mom's friend's grandson...it's a saga, apparently, and not mine to post anyway, but thought I'd ask for a good thought for Branden, anyway.

Our wings are not tired

I have so much work to do, and my motivation to be doing it is...not great.

I'm going on vacation in two hours and people keep wanting me to do my job, which just seems mean of them.

My computer started working again. I think my east coast colleagues had given up for the day (fair!) but I feel like I probably have to do some work this afternoon. Boooooo
