Just landed in Costa Rica where the local temps are about 10 degrees cooler that NYC. (Or so my weather app says, I'm still on the plane waiting to taxi in)
Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration

Have a blast, Jess. Give us deets so we can be appropriately jealous.
Things are better for me the past day or two. except for the fools across the street with the fireworks. I know I can be a major kvetch, but the nausea after only a few months of "Wow, glad that thyroid thing is over," does seem on the mean side, especially since I can't do what Archie Bunker wanted and "Change...change right now!" and I can't move around and don't know how long the shit's gonna take--Generally, I'm not on the winning side of (shrug) "It's different for everyone," and, bloodwork aside, that thyroid thing took the better part of an entire *year* to even sort of get right, even without me not being thrilled to go from social status as Squeaky-Voiced Teen to getting to finish up as Seymour's mother.

A new trend line! May it continue.
In exciting news, I just took the dog outside again and there are lightning bugs, or fireflies, can't remember which they are called where.
In less exciting news, I think my dog has something bad going on. I have a vet appointment Tuesday morning. He has become really bad about eating, very anxious, digestive issues, and other oddities. We'll see what the vet has to say.
Hello! In my semi-lurking, I saw the question about goodstuffhappenedtoday, and I just.... got bored with it the other day so maybe it's cancelled? Sorry.
I met up with some friends at a beer hall nearby to watch the USMNT. Disappointing—they just didn’t look good at all—-but probably for the best so it’s not all about the stupid rescinding of the red card. Still a bummer though—would’ve at least liked a closer game.
I am also very much hoping there are not more fireworks tonight. The last three nights have been loud.
(Also >24 hours with zero posts seems wrong)
I am safely home from the con. I got to see a bunch of old friends, have some ridiculously good chicken mole enchiladas, and hug a few folks who apparently really needed hugging. If I write this one up, it'll very likely go onto Dreamwidth under circle-lock (I'm [link] over there; send me email at my profile address if you want to be added to the access list.)
Nurse Jen's hubby Matt is indeed a lovely fellow; I was prepared to be quite jealous of him when we met at JZ's memorial, but my life is not a rom-com in that particular direction. Sometimes friends just love one another and no one makes a fuss. I'm glad he and Jen have each other, and long may they wave.
The orange blight certainly can be a jinx on sports teams.
Even people that don't think they need hugging should get hugged by you, Karl. You're great at it. Laura, he's a jinx on Americans, and possibly humanity as a whole.
