I am safely home from the con. I got to see a bunch of old friends, have some ridiculously good chicken mole enchiladas, and hug a few folks who apparently really needed hugging. Nurse Jen's hubby Matt is indeed a lovely fellow; I was prepared to be quite jealous of him when we met at JZ's memorial, but my life is not a rom-com in that particular direction. Sometimes friends just love one another and no one makes a fuss. I'm glad he and Jen have each other, and long may they wave.
The orange blight certainly can be a jinx on sports teams.

Took my doggo, Birdie, to a free doggy daycare test to see if it was worth adding in when we board her there for a couple of days next week (DH'S mom died Saturday morning; memorial is the 15th).
My suspicion was that "honey badger don't give a shit," and I was right. The manager said she was totally calm, no whale eye or issues with any of the dogs -- she just sort of didn't care about socializing and spent her time patrolling the perimeter. Not unusual for an older dog (shes 14). So, no real added value to more than just the regular boarding routine interactions was our mutual conclusion.
Honestly, I can relate, doggo.
Skinner had so many things going on that we did a needle sample from the growth in his arm pit, and a whole bunch of blood tests. Vet said she wasn't worried about the very odd nipple stuff and thought it was most likely really skin tags. Digestive issues and big anxiety likely just the travel and fireworks and disruption. All the tests are perfect. We are going to add bone broth to his food to encourage his eating and ignore the lumps and bumps unless they interfere with movement. IOW, he is an old man with fatty bumps, skin tags, a sensitive belly, and farts a lot. At 8 years old! Anyway, phew! We were really worried.

And sensitive Skinner made me get up multiple times last night to let him out, and left several deposits in front of the door when he apparently couldn't wake us. No doubt vaccine reaction. Why do I always have pets? So tired.
DH drove to Syracuse this morning to have the car checked because we got an odd warning a couple days ago, which hasn't come back, but since it is under warranty want to get it checked out. He was awake with the dog all night too so most likely half asleep. It is an hour and a half drive from here. Nothing is close to Otter Lake.
