A molten salt "battery" is a way of storing heat energy using, you guessed it, molten salt. You want to store energy? Heat up the salt. You want to extract energy? Use the hot salt to boil water and generate steam energy.
My opinion is that while nuclear energy is getting cheaper, it's not getting cheaper faster than renewable energy (wind/solar) + storage is getting cheaper. So it's cheaper to hook your wind and solar panels up to batteries (molten salt or otherwise) than it is to build even a small and cheap nuclear reactor. Nuclear's window of opportunity has closed.
John Oliver had a thing about salt batteries on Sunday. I am not enough of a chemistry expert to understand if they are a real viable alternative to lithium-ion (hopefully yes because lithium mining is literally the worst but also our current best path forward to getting off oil.)
(And by "not enough of a chemistry expert" I mean "Multiple better-educated Buffistas have pointed out that my caffeine molecule tattoo is missing a bond and chemically unstable")
I’m chemically unstable if I don’t get my morning coffee!
I think I set the bar too high at "toxic."
I hear ya'. And I do limit my exposure to maybe once or twice a year and in a group, heh.
I am overall super lucky with my peeps.
Ha, lisah! I see what you did there.
Somebody ask me if I've been to the pool yet when I post tomorrow...
Consider it achieved.
We are a foamy bunch, yeah? It was good to be reminded of that at Jacqueline's gathering.
I bought something so pink this week, I think JZ convinced me to buy it. Have no idea where I'd wear it, but I have it.
I hate that I don't have more ties here, though.
Timelies all!
I called the dermatologist's office yesterday, and they didn't have my credit card. So I called Citibank and went through the whole song and dance of cancelling the card and getting a new one.(Which will arrive in 4 to 7 business days)
Mr. S had a major meltdown at school(physical aggression towards staff and community members) which led to a)another trip to the ER and b)suspension for the remaining days of school. It never seems to get better.

Insubordinate! And Churlish!
