David, I wish you were my dad! What a wonderful experience Matilda and her friends are having. So _fancy_! I hope it's been a blast for you, too.
Just got back from lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Polo Lounge with Phil and Jennifer. He held off going to the World Series of Poker for a few days to lunch with us, which was nice.
I'm about to take Iris down for her facial (only one aesthetician on duty today, so they couldn't do them at the same time). I think we'll probably do a light room service dinner because we're all stuffed.
But tomorrow we'll have brunch at Yardbird (where JZ had her cobbler with the fancy raspberry shell that she had to crack open) and then head back to the airport.
It's been fun just cracking open the world of possibility for Matilda. To get her to think on a bigger scale.
I am embarrassed by how old I was before I found out people didn't pay for room service with, like, rubies and shit.
(There wasn't *tons* of money when I came up, but I'm not sure why my father acts like such a yokel. If anything, it's gotten worse, too. As if the more Stepmonster wants to climb, the more he goes from casual to Little Abner Retires, which isn't who I grew up with, mostly.)
I found out that a local bubble tea place has some Filipino groceries for sale, and does lumpia platters by pre-order. Alas, it's in units of 25 spring rolls, which are less like the lumpia I got from the Filipino food truck a few weeks ago and more like the standard ones available at nearby Chinese buffets. Still good, but I perhaps would not have chosen to make them the entrees of all my meals this weekend had I known.
I took the test and passed. Giant onerous task DONE!

Well done! Take that well earned reimbursement!
