...well, now I’m flying to Florida tomorrow. Dad finally admitted he could use some help, so — before he forgets he said that or changes his mind — I need to get to him. I’ll wear multiple masks and a face shield and quarantine for a week before I actually see him, but it’s just got to happen. I hate leaving ND right before the holidays, but we both agree I need to go.
JZ, I’m so sorry. The grief is so hard.
Oh jeez, Pix, good luck with all of that! What kind of help?
Well, they might be amused at the time I got hopped up on cold medicine and wrapped gifts all night on Christmas Eve and made a gift for last minute Uncle’s girlfriend while watching a weird Steve Martin movie that was based on Silas Marner, but modern day., and the whole time I couldn’t figure out if I was high or it was really based on Silas Marner. And honestly that was one of the last times I took the red Sudafed.
I am amused!
{{{Pix}}} Good luck to you and much ~ma for your dad.
I hope your travels go as well as possible, Pix.
Even with all the protective gear, I'm anxious about your travels, Pix. I hope they go safely and well.
WIN!! I left the dog at home to go to Trader Joe's, and this time, while he did bark like crazy as I left, by the time I came home he was quiet and just on the floor....wrapped in toilet paper...which I'd forgotten to remove from the bathroom. Hadn't touched the peanut butter filled Kong, but whatever! Success! (Except in that I forgot my shopping list and they were out of one of the things I remembered, so I have to go back to another store to get those, but...close to success!)
I hope everything goes well, Pix. The random “they” at my university seem to be emphasizing eye protection for us if we have contact with students and patients. They think that glasses are enough, but if you don’t wear glasses, they have you do eye protection.
And the Steve Martin/Silas Marner movie is real, and has Catherine O’Hara, who I somehow replaced in my head with Dana Delaney from Housesitter. [link]
The Silas Mariner movie is less surprising when you remember the Cyrano movie (complete with nose). Which are both less surprising if you're read or seen Picasso at the Lapin Agile.
I guess what I'm saying is that Steve Martin is pretty clearly a culture nerd.
