Is it wrong of me to hope that woman gets it? Ugh.
That sounds perfectly normal.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Oh, Cash. I"m glad for your lack of hangover and getting the chance to see your brother, and glad Christopher is there with you, but I pretty much want to shake everyone else in your immediate vicinity.
askye, good on you for holding firm on working off the clock. That is SUCH a no, and you are 1000% right.
Vibing hard for a peaceable resolution for Sheryl and Gary and Mr. S.
Blue Angels everywhere right now, but I have seen something far worse; there's *also* a commercial aircraft air show happening at some point, with a United 777 doing whatever maneuvers something that big can do. And I guess it was practicing today, but someone failed to think this the eff through because the sight of a commercial jet flying low over San Francisco in the direction of the Golden Gate Bridge along a trajectory I knew for a fact was not part of any normal commercial flight path, much less that low, was fucking terrifying. And it was no comfort to see it again a few minutes later heading in the direction of downtown, but now even lower. THIS WHOLE THING IS A TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE IDEA.
Back at the hotel with a bottle of wine. And no people but us.
Oh good. You deserve that downtime, Cashmere. I'm so sorry about your father's passing, and about the circumstances, and about everything you've had to deal with since. Now is the time to take care of you.
I know it's different, because you have to travel back home, but when my father passed, after we got home from the post-funeral gathering, I went to bed, for at least a day, maybe two. My oldest son ended up getting sick after that, so we really hunkered down for a while. He wasn't desperately ill, so it gave us time to just stay home and be.
Take it easy, my friend.
I have worked off the clock, but never had to in retail. One of the reasons I strove to be salaried was so that I did not have to worry about it and could work at all different times (I am working now and taking a break, but I totally goofed off from 12-2), but this is an office job. I never worked off the clock in retail. In theatre, the falsifying was more about not getting over-time. So we got made for all our hours, but had to say we worked for more weeks than we did. So if I worked for only two weeks, but at 90-100 hours, I had to keep filling out my time sheet for several more weeks (I was in my early 20s and just happy to be being paid for theatre and I actually made a lot of money).
Cash- I am glad you have wine, and so grateful you took the time to recommend something for me. That actually sounds sort of perfect. I love old gravestones and researching people on the gravestones. When I was in late middle school, I used to make my mom drive me to cemetaries, write down the names and pertinent information, and then take me to the county records office to look them up.
Msbelle and Amy- I think I also would want to knit for things, so that is such a good suggestion.
Oh! Cash! You could volunteer to fill photo requests for Find A Grave!
It's Saturday. Trying to balance work with relaxation. DH is planning to head north on Monday. I really hope the leaves hang around. The brilliance of peak season was probably a few days ago, but it is still extremely colorful, and plenty of green trees to still turn. It is breezy though and lots of leaves are spinning in the air.
We've got a visit to JZ's father's gravesite today. We're trying to parse exactly how formal the clothing needs to be for this. The short answer is less formal than the actual memorial and church tomorrow, but no lime green rompers.
Emmett's coming down with his girlfriend, Kalena for both events and we'll get to see Matilda's young cousins, who've grown up quite a bit in the last couple years.
Timelies all!
Mr. S was up by 7 this morning, demanding sunny side-up eggs on a sandwich. Which he took one bite of and abandoned the rest. (He does stuff like this all too frequently) sigh…
Huh. I was just peacefully reading my book when I hear a voice - some sort of recorded voice from the vicinity of my Chromebook so I figure an open tab started auto playing something or other. What actually happened is my phone spontaneously called a number from a text message, which was some sort of customer service office that was closed abs had a recorded message to say so. What the hell, phone? Is this Skynet creeping me out?
That is creepy, -t.
I am home. Will quick test for COVID today, just in case. I can never find quick tests at the pharmacy in Wisconsin but they had TONS of them at CVS in Indiana—where nobody gives a shit if they have it or not.
My 21 year old great nephew with type 1 diabetes refused to get vaccinated. He’s got COVID but so far isn’t hospitalized. They are giving him monoclonal antibodies, though.
Driving with my sister to pick up and deliver the remaining flowers and plants plants to a local nursing home, I passed a Trump protest on the street in my hometown. An old Woman stuck her “I miss Trump” sign out at me and I slowed down and gave her the finger.
