I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Interesting, sumi. And reminded me that I have been wondering for a while if there were actual blue hosiery involved in the origin of the term so I googled and:

The term probably originated when one of the ladies, Mrs. Vesey, invited the learned Benjamin Stillingfleet to one of her parties; he declined because he lacked appropriate dress, whereupon she told him to come “in his blue stockings”—the ordinary worsted stockings he was wearing at the time.

Which is really far from anything I imagined.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Bourbon, alibis, and vuvuzelas sounds like the title of a Buffista memoir.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

It does!

Since we're heading towards Halloween and Christmas isn't far behind, I came across this Nightmare Before Christmas Advent Calendar. It seems to be something some Buffistas would like.

FWIW, I really like this company - they have old books - remaindered hardcovers, some paperbacks - DVDs, BluRays, audiobooks at reduced prices. And, if you use their paper order form and pay by check, everything you order is shipped at $4; if you order online, they'll charge the $4 for each item. I've gotten some good stuff from them; the only issue I've had is that they'll sometimes run out of something I want before my order comes in.

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

Oh wow, I haven't thought of Hamilton Books in years! Do they still send the newspaper-sized print catalog? Someone light the Atropa Signal . . . .

Trudy, I was also thinking Legos would be a lovely gift - I wonder if they offer custom colors?

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

Title of your sex tape

We watched the final episode of Brooklyn Nine Nine last night, and *that* ("title of your sex movie...did I do that right?") was the thing that made me get teary.

Our wings are not tired

Hey ND! How are you and Pix enjoying the trip?

Apart from the bed in our Air BnB combined with our backs and general "having the olds" regarding substandard beds, it's a lovely trip.

Ah, ha, ha, ha!

Apart from the bed in our Air BnB combined with our backs and general "having the olds" regarding substandard beds, it's a lovely trip.

Glad it's going well aside from the beds. I'm figuring we'll have the same issue in our house full of Olds on our beach trip, but... worth it, I'm also figuring.

amyparker, yes, Hamilton still sends out paper catalogs ... various sizes but the print is uniformly small (or it could be that my aging eyes don't read it as easily these days). And they're charging sales tax these days, which they didn't do when I first started ordering from them. But the one cheap shipping/handling fee still makes me go through for the things I want. (And it lets me indulge my taste for terrible movies ... Bermuda Tentacles anyone?)
