"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I’m baffled how Seattle has just almost as high of vaccination rates as San Francisco but still has so many more cases per capita!! (Apropos of Hec posting about it on fb)

Maybe it's Oregon's fault! As much as I love my birth-state, it does share a border and sensibility with Idaho, and there are a lot of right wing refuseniks on the Eastern side.

One would think that ginger cookies would be self-correcting tummy ache wise...

One would think.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Good luck, Rick.

All hail, Pumpkin Cream Cheese!

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Day 1 of getting Mr. S to school went well. I hope the rest of the week goes as well.(Silly boy left his lunch bag at school. Oh, well, I guess we'll have to use Gary's insulated bag tomorrow.)

Oh I would definitely blame Idaho before Oregon, but I was looking at the Seattle-specific (or well, King County) stats, they’re generally way better than the rest of the state. Our surge seems to be going down but not as quickly as one might like.

I’m taking tomorrow off work, because I have some vacation days to burn. So far my plan is get up at mostly the regular hour, drop dog at daycare, go to the bougie bakery, and maybe go hike to a lake? Supposedly a pretty easy 4 mile round trip. Not sure if I want to plan to bring lunch or just snacks. May go classic PB&J. Then I’m thinking a Costco run? Not sure what else. In the evening I have an outdoor happy hour.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

If I were well enough to drive the 7 hours down there, I would do it just to slap them all in their stupid faces.

The singing telegram industry should pivot to fill this sort of role. Maybe instead of slapping they could toss a bucket of Lysol on them.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

You used to be able to get people to dress up in uniform/costume to deliver a message. Maybe someone in full PPE ... to offer them ivermectin?

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

My week is ... kind of a mess. Yesterday, in the middle of the day, I suddenly could not get on the office network. Turned out that in order to use my office MS Teams phone, I'd had to disconnect the ethernet cable from the computer and connect the phone ... and, while things had been FINE for a while, yesterday mid-day things suddenly decided it was NOT OK. Spent about an hour on the phone with tech support and things cleared up (well, there are other relatively minor issues, but the big one was fixed). It's POURING down rain, got soaked to the skin coming in (I keep dry clothes in the office, even socks, so I'm less uncomfortable). Started up the computer and it suddenly decided that it didn't want to connect to the network again. Kept giving me a message that the ethernet wasn't connected. I had a sudden idea and scrounged around the office for another cable that won't be used (we've had three people move out of state and several quit) and tried connecting that. It seems to work. I'll have to see how long this lasts.

And I realize that the people in the west would LOVE to have several days of non-stop rain ... and I'd love to send it to them, but that's not an option. Wish it were, or all the people chanting "rain, rain go away" would have had some effect.

Our wings are not tired.

I saw the DC rain on the news this morning. Might want to look around for an ark.

After several days of tooth pain, it seems better today. #1 son visiting tomorrow and then Saturday a luncheon with girlfriends, so relieved.

Still enraged by the situation with Cashmere's dad. I really hope his recovery is swift.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Feeling bad enough today with the swollen arm and general malaise that I would take a sick day except I have my last meeting with BBB before handing them off to coworker to handle scheduled so I'm going to struggle through the day that long at least. Bah.

The Lil Nas X cover of Jolene is really good and I'm enjoying seeing it pop up in my FB feed over and over again but that does mean I will be constantly earwormed with it and my ridiculous brain keeps trying to try to put the words to Kubla Khan onto it. "In Xanada did Kubla Khan a stately pleasure dome decree where Alph the sacred river ran, Jolene" I wouldn't mind so much if it continued to work all the way through.
