Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Thanks for the birthday happies! My day was spent quietly pushing fluids, eating ice cream, coughing my head off, avoiding major media, and rejoicing when the test came back that this was not breakthrough COVID.

Tom & Sheryl - I hope your parents continue to improve! They need to stop scaring the hell out of you. Hang in there.

I need to do that for my IBS. Although I'm also 98% sure a big contributor to the 2+ months of GI unrest is new unfun lactose intolerance. I switched to lactose-free milk and 1/2 and 1/2 for my coffee and things have calmed down enormously. I'm going to cautiously re-introduce cheese and see what happens (apparently some cheeses aren't problematic for some people with lactose intolerance, but it sounds like a lot of trial and error is involved).

Teppy, Hippie Mom and Geneticist pal both suggested I eat raw milk cheese to repopulate my gut biome and it worked a treat. It was a gruesome regimen - every Monday I bought a few ounces of some ridiculously expensive fancy pants cheese and ate a little bit each day with my breakfast. It took about two months of this grueling discipline and the milk in my iced coffee has stopped bothering me and I can once again eat ice cream without risking a sprint. If I can eat an ounce of amazing cheese most days for a few months, anyone can. Keep the faith!

And for Nilly (and the rest of the Chosen), Shana tova [link]

Hmm. I wonder if the cheese and charcuterie shop in my neighborhood has raw milk cheese. I'll have to find out.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Trudy, any specific type of rawmilk cheese? Like a soft cheese or a harder cheese?

Meara, and everyone actually. There was a big exploit on iOS and MacOS devices that came to light at the end of last week. It's a zero click exploit, so you can fall victim to it by just having a text come in, you don't need to click on anything in the text. It gives full access to the device. There is now a patch available so I encourage everyone to update their devices right now. Seriously, stop reading this and update.

ND, somehow my mother found out about that one before I did, and I updated my devices today.

ETA: This is the same mother who I had to send direct links to a cousin's baby shower registry today because she couldn't figure out how to type in the urls on her own.

Hi ND—yeah, updated the phone already, about to do this iPad. Thinking this could also be related to the recent bad T Mobile data breach. But hey, so many data breaches, so little time…who knows. Froze my credit today too, which is annoying when I want to buy a car soon but better safe than sorry.

I'm glad you're taking steps, meara!

Our wings are not tired.

First, Happy Birthday to Nora! I was greeted with a memory on FB this morning of the NOLA party 8 years ago. That was indeed a good time. I hope the day is grand and that the year to come is joyful.

What a mess, meara. I hope it gets all settled very quickly.

I have an iPhone, which does updates automatically. I checked but it said nothing available so hopefully okay. I did yesterday get a random linky sent via FB messenger. I know the person would not be sending me links and deleted it followed by letting her know. Sheesh.

Guess I should spend some time doing password changes and stuff. I'll go through the lists of compromised passwords per browser warnings, but half the time the websites don't even exist anymore for me to change them.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Froze my credit today too, which is annoying when I want to buy a car soon but better safe than sorry.

In my (now possibly out of date) experience, it just means they call when someone wants to anything. So like, I was opening a store credit card and while I stood there, the credit report company called me to let me know that was happening, I okayed it, and got the credit card. So no big whoop on my end.

My shop's raw milk cheeses are medium to hard - I don't think I saw any soft ones.
