I got kudos from my hygenist this morning - my gums were in crap shape back when I started this dental journey, but this morning they are 100% normal and recovered.
She was delighted and kind of surprised at how well they shaped up. But I've become a dedicated multi-times daily flosser and pretty regular mouth rinser after that dreadful first showing. I'd say brusher, but I've always been that. I just rarely did the extra stuff. But now I do!
Still have a filling and two permanent crowns to go, then Invisalign, and, finally, two implants, but, you know, progress. The longer I can healthily keep these bad boys, the better.
Well, done, Jen! I've been doing the mouthwash thing since my "gum numbers" were getting a little higher than I'd like at my last checkup (already brushing & flossing); my next appt is on the 20th - we'll see whether mine has been as effective as yours!
I got a message from the power company that my neighborhood is having a "planned" outage today. Now I just got an email from the cable company that I'm having an unplanned cable/internet/phone outage. So, good day to be at work, I guess. Fingers crossed that everything is restored by the time I go home this afternoon.
Gum -ma, Epic! And power and cable -ma. Yikes.
Well Scrappy the Cat had a vet appointment because he is still having issues with his face... and he has disappeared. Possibly he got out...although he is very skittish about the doors. Possibly he is hiding somewhere , just very very well. It's a mystery and surprising.
What is not surprising is the news that M's 7 yr old (6 yr old?) niece has been exposed to Covid on the school bus. I guess they found it out while she was at school so the school is letting her finish the day and then she can't go back until next Monday as long as she is symptom free. No one in their household , as far as I know, has been vaccinated.
And Scrappy came sauntering out of.. somewhere in the kitchen... he was either behind the fridge or found a pocket dimension to hide in because we looked everywhere else.
Planned power outages only slightly more fun than unplanned ones.
Yay for found Scrappy.
Poor DH is having a horrible time fixing the bathroom here. So much more complicated and tasking than anticipated. His back is improving, but he should be resting it and not working. He fixes one leak and another place leaks, rinse repeat multiple times now. I feel horrible that his entire time here is doing miserable construction work.
I did arrange at least a couple of days with fun stuff. On Wednesday we are going with son & gf to Niagra Falls. Staying overnight there, then Thursday visiting Watkins Glen [link] on the way back. I'll still have to work of course, but my busiest time is in the morning so I'll work while the rest of the crew sleeps in. My son is content to spend all his non-working hours playing video games, but his girlfriend would like to actually go places and do things. He is excited about the day trips though so maybe he will do more in the future. They don't get two days off together in a row very often.
M and his mom went to his sister's last night. M stayed outside, didn't hug the kids, his mom did give his niece a brief hug.
His niece's exposure happened on Thursday. She hasn't been tested yet but she needs to be because he dad can't go back to work until she gets a negative test result.
I'm trying to figure out if this counts as possible exposure for me.
My cute little mini Kindle Fire tablet has died. I'm 99% sure it's the charging port, you can get replacements online, but actual installation is beyond my meager skills. I've gotten quotes for $99-$120 to repair it. Meanwhile, last I looked I could get a brand new one for 40ish bucks. I HATE this "everything is disposable" outlook. But I really can't justify paying 2 1/2 to 3 times the cost of a new one for repairs. Still hoping I can get a tinkery local friend to take a shot at it, but no luck so far. So frustrating!
