Jayne: Captain, can you stop her from bein' cheerful, please? Mal: I don't believe there is a power in the 'verse that can stop Kaylee from being cheerful. Sometimes you just wanna duct tape her mouth and dump her in the hold for a month.

Good riddance.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I bet he did this to avoid an impeachment.

Thank goodness for small favors!

In other news, the infrastructure bill passed 69-30.

Nice.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

To be exact, it passed the Senate - with amendments - and is now back in the House to be passed again.

Yay Cuomo resignation and bill! Boo COVID assholes!!

I had a meeting today that I feared would be awful and involve me being yelled at (client is not happy about a thing that was somewhat preventable; understandable but often this client reaction is to pound in the displeasure) ….but it was actually fine and we spent most of the meeting discussing a different issue entirely. Whew!!!

Now tagless for your comfort.

I may be growing just a bit uncharitable regarding the pandemic situation.

I basically tweeted that if I was a doctor or nurse and Greg Abbott called me personally to beg me to come help in Texas, I would tell him to go fuck himself. I am not a nice person.

I can't believe Cuomo resigned. I really thought they'd have to drag him out of the office by his feet.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

There's a Ronan Farrow article about Cuomo in the New Yorker today. I haven't read it, but you know you're fucked at that point.

Various Texas ISDs are pushing back against the ban on mask mandates, and various counties are seeking restraining orders against the ban. So that's something, I guess.

Librarian Warlord

Someone figured out how many minutes it took between Ronan Farrow's article hitting the website and the resignation. Not long! Preet Bharara will also discuss what happened on the Insider podcast, dropping tonight, which is usually behind a paywall (but this episode won't be). He's great, I recommend.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Sigh...Mr. S didn't go to sleep until after 10 last night, and it's showing. I got home from work to find him upset because his eyes hurt(he went to the pool with the babysitter) and worked himself into a tizzy. He fell asleep for a little bit, then got upset again. Hopefully a good night's sleep will get him resettled.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I am OUT OF PATIENCE!!!! Numbers going up everywhere. We are probably going to reinstate mask mandate at work. I'm still wearing mine when not at my desk due to unvaccinated ppl in the bldg not wearing their masks.

Artists are withdrawing from Austin City Limits Festival I go to each year. No word from the festival if they would close it to unvaccinated people or are looking at cancelling it again.

TOO MUCH STRESS

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

My former neighbor who works at the pizza parlor next door just told me and a friend about refusing to serve a Shirley Temple to some poor 15-year-old because of her age. He just would not believe us about it being a non-alcoholic drink until his co-worker joined in and made it three to one. I was afraid to ask what kind of liquor he thinks grenadine is.
