Actually, I think this may be Jesse's recipe. Or, I stole the melting butter trick from her and combined it with my mom's. The rum makes me suspect this is my mom's but at this point I'm not sure. In any case, here is the original.

Cherry Clafoutis:
2 tbsp butter
2 cups cherries (or blueberries)
4 eggs
½ cup sugar
½ cup lowfat milk
½ cup heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp dark rum
¾ cup flour
pinch salt

--Preheat oven to 350°. Place butter in 8x8 glass pan to melt in oven.
--Whisk eggs in bowl. Add sugar and whisk until mixture thickens and is pale yellow. Add milk, cream, vanilla, and rum. Whisk to combine. Add flour and salt. Whisk to combine.
--Layer berries over the bottom of the glass pan. Pour mixture over berries in pan.
--Bake, rotating once, about 45 minutes.

I've actually been experimenting with this based on some of the recipes in my French book of clafoutis recipes. I've tried substituting with different amounts of almond flour. That works okay if you only use about 1/4 cup of the almond. Also, the above is a bit eggy, so I've tried using 3 eggs and also 3 eggs + one yolk (the latter is almost right I think but it really depends on the eggs). I've also tried actually buttering the pan instead of melting the butter and I definitely do not prefer that.

Google alerted me that Peacock has ordered a reality dating show "inspired by Pride and Prejudice" that involves "a heroine looking for her Duke" and my reaction is mostly that there are no Dukes (is duke always capitalized? I have no idea) in P&P, I guess saying they are inspired by Bridgerton would not go over well since that's a Netflix show...

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I saw a tweet yesterday (well, a tweet thread) that was VERY emphatic on that subject, -t.

What can I say? Clafoutis is my hammock stand.

Is duke always capitalized?

Duke is usually capped since it is almost always used as an integral part of the name and rarely used in apposition (unlike other titles where you might see President Jimmy Carter, but U.S. president Jimmy Carter or former president Carter), but if you are just talking about how few dukes there are in England, it would be lowercase.

Thank you, megan, that makes sense.

And I feel validated, Dana. Hooray twitter

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I had that EXACT reaction. "Inspired by P&P" should be less "looking for her Duke" and more "looking for her intellectual equal / house with magnificent grounds"
