Mini rant coming on: I've been coming into the office almost every day all along. I took time off to move, I've taken a few vacation days to goof off, I've taken a few sick days. But otherwise, I've come in and taken care of things - collected the mail and sorted through for the junk to discard, magazines to distribute, checks to get deposited and invoices to get paid. I've watered the plants, opened up the dishwasher and icemaker so they didn't mildew, got maintenance down to deal with a major leak (twice), notified them of a seriously cracked window so it could be fixed.
Now the office is looking at re-opening. To tempt the people who've been working from home (two have moved out of state and so will be working from home full time) to come in, and so they don't have to take the icky public transit, they're going to offer a substantial transportation subsidy. Meanwhile, I've been getting less than half of the maximum they've offered credited to my transit card each month, so I've been taking public transit. I was told, right after the last fare increase, that I would never be allowed any more. Ever. Even though it didn't cover even my basic work commute. I got myself a senior transit card, since I qualify, which means my fare is now half the usual ... and, in response, they're talking about cutting what I get, since I'm only paying half fares. And, since moving, my commuting costs have gone up.
I am, as you might imagine, angry about this.
That is bullshit, Toddson. They owe you some cash.
That is ridiculous, Todd. Good Grief! I remember you going in by yourself for the longest time during the worst of the pandemic. Grrrrrrr
That's so wrong, Toddson! They absolutely owe you. Argh!
That is absolute bullshit, Todd!
Timelies all!
That is indeed ridiculous, Toddson.
I am livid on your behalf, Toddson!
My internet has been bad enough recently that I've been experiencing issues in almost every video call, so I just finally signed up with Sonic for gigabit fiber and have installation scheduled for next week. Next I'll need to convince Comcast to let me cancel, return their equipment, and confirm that my account has really truly been canceled. But that's a problem for Future Me after the installation is successful.
Ah yes, canceling Comcast is indeed a major project.
Toddson - that is awful. We hate them. Sounds they deserve a lawsuit.
For everyone following along with the car saga. Mac picked up the new car and has declared that it drives “clunky“. I am hoping all that means is that it needs an alignment. Due to his work schedule at Amazon which is 4 AM to 3 PM, getting the car to our mechanic is a challenge. He still has the old car though. So tomorrow he will drop the new car off after work to the mechanic, he’ll take the old car to work on Friday, and the mechanic will call me if there are any big issues with the new car. We have to get this done on Friday because we only have a five day return option on the new car. If there are any big issues, I have contacted some retired friends nearby who can go get the new car and return it to the Dealership. So much coordination doing this from out of state.Fingers crossed nothing big is wrong and the old car can also get sold to a dealership on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.
