desperate times and all that.

I really wish the child would see what can be done when ppl with motivation JUST DO THE SHIT and would take some tiny bit of that, but so so doubtful. I have sent him a link to three cars - 2 Corollas and a Civic. Choice, but not much choice. I hope I can get $2000 for his car on trade in, but will take whatever they offer and walk away happy.

$13,000 at 200 per month with 2% interest = Mac will pay me back in 6 years. I should hold my breath now, right?

Definitely do not hold your breath. Yikes, msbelle.

I too am picturing Kang from Simpsons!!

Woke up v early this morning and drove to my friends house to do her hair with another friend for her wedding. Took longer than planned and then had to drive the dog to the friend’s who is keeping him today/tonight. Wedding is in a few hours and is going to be hot AF there.

I bought 4 10 pound bags of ice to put in my cooler for tomorrow’s brunch—they may not last but better than not being able to find any tomorrow? The U village QFC was def stocking up on ice and people were throwing it in their carts.

IOh and msbelle if it makes you feel any better the friend with a kid who is very Mac-like decided his slightly older cousin who was going to school in their city would be a good influence (and is generally a good kid). So she spent a lot of time and a hell of a lot of energy and work finishing her basement and creating a bedroom and a living room for him down there. A LOT of work. He moved in two weeks ago. She went out of town last weekend and the boys apparently turned the A/C so low that the pipes froze. They didn’t DO ANYTHING (like call her or call the cousins dad who is a carpenter and handy and local) and instead just let the basement fill with water. And ruined some pipes and shit.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I should hold my breath now, right?

I will gently suggest no.

WTF, meara. Dag, boys!! Don't just wreck the house because you're scared to get in trouble! You will still get in trouble.

It has been pointed out to me that mac saying he has the job at Amazon is not actually proof that he has the job, so I have asked for the email. I love being the asshole.

ION - it took searching 6 sites to find a rental car for tomorrow, everyone showed sold out. WTF.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I would not have guessed that was even possible, meara! Wow. Hope you don't melt at the wedding and brunch

Oh, we got the map of where we'll be sitting when we get back into the office, and facilities is scheduled to move us before the official Back in Office Day although we need to move our own personal stuff and I think that means I should go in and do it next week but I'm not entirely sure. Anyway, I'll be nearest the kitchen, which is also close to a printer. I had heard we were supposed to get a sort of shared, ad hoc office that we could use for conference calls and what not but that's not marked on the map (we used to have one but that is now someone's actual office) so maybe not. I think the major difference for me is going to be me more traffic passing behind me while I'm working which seems terrible right now thinking about it (after working in my living room with absolutely no one around for the past year+ and being in a low traffic area before that) but I'm sure I'll get used to it. And I have noise cancelling headphones. I am mildly irritated that someone on my team with the same title as me gets a bigger cube, but only on principle.

BTW, I feel y'all appreciate how wrong it is that when we asked about how we will be expected to back each other up when any of us our on vacation or sick or whatever the answer was that they haven't figured that out yet. Two people are leaving and there are no plans to hire replacements and management is not worried about coverage with PTO? Argh. To be fair, my boss definitely wants to hire at least a replacement for mt teammate who is leaving, but she has to make a case for it and I guess that means waiting to see how the new system works with 4 of us instead of 5, which even if we are overwhelmed we'll get the work done because that is what we have been doing, getting the work done while overwhelmed, and they'll all say we don't need another person. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe they will surprise me and be reasonable.

Yeesh, -t. That's a lot of change all at once.

Msbelle, that thought had crossed my mind, so, yeah, pony up the email before I buy you a car, kid, seems WAY reasonable to me.

What the hell with the air conditioner... and flooding... and not doing anything?! I do not understand.
