Y'all see the man hanging out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find. It was kinda out of our way, and he didn't want to come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folk. So really it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting.

Happy Birthday to Cass!

Laura, I was wide awake at 5:30a this morning! I took advantage of it and got up, what the hell. I'm sorry for that family's losses. Cannot fathom.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Happy Cass Day!

My phone tells me I can look forward to a high of 108 degrees today, which is too many degrees, so I set up my fan to blow directly on me while I work. You know how your brain will try to turn white noise or random sounds into something recognizable? I keep hearing Ride of the Valkyries in the fan drone.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Woohoo! We now have tomorrow off fir the new Federal holiday! Yay!

One of the people key to getting Juneteenth recognized is a woman I worked with years ago with Habitat for Humanity in Fort Worth. Her name is Opal Lee and I know she has been featured on several national news programs.

Very cool, msbelle! Um, that you worked with Opal Lee, although it is also pretty cool that you get tomorrow off. We do not, although I suppose they could make an announcement to that effect this afternoon but considering our VP of People has not been replaced yet I don't see that happening. Yay federal holiday in general!

Our wings are not tired.

That is simply awesome, msbelle. I may have whooped when I heard that it was instantly being observed.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

We received a 12 paragraph email from the president of our school about our dedication to antiracism and the importance Juneteenth. None of those paragraphs included a day off tomorrow, alas. Working with Opal Lee sounds pretty cool, msbelle.

That’s awesome msbelle! I figure we don’t get off for veterans day or Columbus Day or Presidents’ Day so I’m sure we won’t get Juneteenth either even if it’s a federal holiday. Oh well.

t, 108 is WAY too many degrees. Good grief. I thought you lived in a temperate Bay Area climate!

Our wings are not tired.

I anticipate zero of my medical offices will be closed tomorrow.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I figure we don’t get off for veterans day or Columbus Day or Presidents’ Day so I’m sure we won’t get Juneteenth either even if it’s a federal holiday.

Yep, same. We do have a pretty full slate of Juneteenth DEI programming tomorrow, and folks have been given blanket permission to attend those panels/workshops/etc, which I think is a good move.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I get federal holidays off, and yet no last-minute email saying we don't have to work tomorrow. Working is dumb.
