Congratulations Gud!
My car is in the shop this week to have the damage from my wreck last summer repaired, Allstate willing, so I'm feeling even more hemmed in than is pandemic-normal. I did think to save a package of Mexican street corn to fix in honor of the holiday, even though there are no decent Mexican places within walking distance. (Okay, there's a taco truck down by the police station, but I don't think it's open at night and I'm sure not walking to that neighborhood to find out.)
Congrats on all, Gud! I use the Instant Pot quite a lot. Love it for hard boiled eggs. Easy peasy quick and perfect.
Today is the celebration of Karl's birth. If ya see him around give him birthday hugs.
Mona leaves today after a 10 day visit. It has been a whirlwind. Visited with my MIL yesterday, went and did our nails, ate out at Hurricane Alley and there was a Mitch McConnell doppelganger. We tried not to stare and didn't ask to have a picture with him. My sister looks quite like Kathy Bates and has had people ask to take pictures with her, which she does in good humor. Oh, and my nails are quite turquoise. I like it! SIL took a picture so I have to see if she posted it.
My nails are ALSO sort of turquoise!
Congrats on all that, Gud! How do you feel about TCBITW's fiance?
Eye dr Appt today. Sadly my OG glasses that I broke cannot be fixed and the frames are discontinued so 1 set of new frames and new lenses in my sunglasses -almost $400 after insurance! I will spend some time today on some online places to see if I can snag any fun frames that with my script will be less than $100.
You know how there's this stereotype of the suburban parent driving and the kids in the back seat are pelting them with questions (are we there yet? are we there yet?). Well, turns out that's not the worst thing possible. A young soldier in South Carolina flagged down a school bus and got on. He was carrying a rifle and wanted the driver to take him ... somewhere. He got the kids in the front of the bus. And - yes - they were inundating him with questions until he gave up, got the driver to stop and got off the bus. As I often say, I don't have to make this up.
The news article at Toddson's link characterizes it as a hijacking.
I haven't read the article but I was week wondering why tf a bus driver would pick up someone with a gun! Jesus, that's terrifying.
