I remember the consternation when computers first came into use and people were discovering that they didn't quite work that way.
If I may indulge in a me me me rant - we have a virtual conference taking place next week. I was told that I'd be responsible for listening in, but not participating in one session. Then I discovered that I was responsible for running the chat for three additional sessions. I had supposedly been sent information on how to log onto the conference site to get used to it, although I never received it (and am wondering what else I missed) and the people who sent it are SURE that it was sent to me and, if I didn't see it, I just overlooked it (checked my junk/spam folder and what I've deleted over the past few days and it wasn't there). I've never taken part in any of the virtual conferences before and I'm worried ... also, I'm the only one actually in the office so I get all the calls from frantic people who can't log in or can't find their session or are indignant that they don't seem to be registered. In addition, since I'm in the office, all the phone calls come to me ... and there doesn't seem to be a way to have them not make noise or send calls to voicemail. So I'll have to deal with the virtual conference sessions while the phone chimes (we don't have anything as outdated as a RING) over and over and over ....
