I'm sorry, askye. I do hope the powers that be decide to let the girlfriend adopt the son.
I didn't have any wake or funeral for Stephen, but his sister offered to host a memorial gathering at her home. She had a fabulous waterfront home in Fort Lauderdale and she had hosted my wedding reception, so she wondered if that would be okay. It was perfect. Same people, same setting, lots of good food and loving people. I did invite a priest to come and give a eulogy for his father's comfort, and he led the more formal aspect of people coming up and sharing their remembrances. Mostly it was just a party, and a chance for us to console each other without funeral directors or churches involved. It is what I would want for myself. Stephen himself refused to discuss the possibility of death so he was no help at all!
That's a not uncommon thing, Sophia. Kinda why we have a lot of procedure and nomenclature in the first place, really.
I hope that works out, askye.
The zero and o keys are way too close together. Who made that decision?
Possibly dating back to the days of typewriters when a capital "O" and "0" could be - and were - used interchangeably.
I'm so old that I remember when you used an lower-case L for a 1.
I've done both of those, but right now typing 0 when I mean o is a problem
I think you mean "a pr0blem."
I actually had this problem this am -t. I kept typing the capital O for zero over and over again on my iPad. My brain is so foggy.
Part of the problem is that my laptop keyboard is small and my muscle memory is also confused. But they are just right there next to each other, looking for trouble!
I remember the consternation when computers first came into use and people were discovering that they didn't quite work that way.
If I may indulge in a me me me rant - we have a virtual conference taking place next week. I was told that I'd be responsible for listening in, but not participating in one session. Then I discovered that I was responsible for running the chat for three additional sessions. I had supposedly been sent information on how to log onto the conference site to get used to it, although I never received it (and am wondering what else I missed) and the people who sent it are SURE that it was sent to me and, if I didn't see it, I just overlooked it (checked my junk/spam folder and what I've deleted over the past few days and it wasn't there). I've never taken part in any of the virtual conferences before and I'm worried ... also, I'm the only one actually in the office so I get all the calls from frantic people who can't log in or can't find their session or are indignant that they don't seem to be registered. In addition, since I'm in the office, all the phone calls come to me ... and there doesn't seem to be a way to have them not make noise or send calls to voicemail. So I'll have to deal with the virtual conference sessions while the phone chimes (we don't have anything as outdated as a RING) over and over and over ....
