As I understand it, employers like mine don't feel soild requring this vax like they do others because it's only been approved on an emergency basis. When that status changes, my employer has indicated they may be more open to requiring it.

I'm so sorry, askye.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Our HR dept has said that they cannot require us to get vaccinated but they have the right to ask if we have been. Not sure what that means, probably nothing until the safety requirements for being on site are relaxed.

IJWTS I am not enjoying today from a work perspective. Too many people expecting me to do too much work.

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

askye, what a wretched mess. I'm terribly sorry.

Mostly I want to whap them over the head until they see reason or my arm gets tired, but I've managed to move a couple of people to "Hmmm" status with "International travel was a big part of your job before this, and you're an advocate for the right of countries to control their borders - if your employer needs to send you somewhere that requires proof of vaccination before entry, how are you thinking you'll handle that?"

I am slightly growly on my own behalf today: the clinic at the high school has appointments for this weekend, and I don't qualify until next week. It's probably better that Jim and I stagger it this way so one of us is fully functional.

I've been wondering about that Sparky. Even though I think everyone should have to get it, I sort of understand why places aren't requiring it (although I'm less understanding about healthcare providers). Since it's only EUA and not FDA-approved, I'm not sure any court would uphold a mandate.

Thrive to spite them

I got my vaccine today. The pharmacy person was pleased I was excited.

I got an update on Jay. Wanda signed a DNR. There is severe brain damage as while the CT scan showmsome improvement and his BP is down the doctors are telling them to prepare for the end.

Jay will be the third cousin I've lost. Sun who died 13 years ago and Kylie who died 3 years ago.

Jay and I are 6 months apart in age. Sun a year younger (same age as my brother), and Kylie a year older.

I wish vaccines could be mandatory but I know there are people at work who won't get them. I wish we could require customers to show they are but we can't even require them to wear masks.

How old is Jay’s son, askye? So sad for him especially.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin Jay, askye.

I'm glad you got your vaccine. Which one did you get? I get my second Moderna, tomorrow. I think brenda does, too.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm sorry about your cousin, askye. I hope things will work out ok for his son.

I don't know that my university is requiring vaccination, but they're certainly encouraging it. There's a big medical program there, so setting up and staffing vaccine distribution sites has seemingly gone fairly smoothly. That's where I got my first shot and have scheduled my second (next Monday).

I'm having kind of amusing billing problem with my favorite mail order clothing shop. Several weeks ago I put some of my tax refund into some new summer work clothes. (I didn't buy any last year because I figured—correctly—that I'd be spending the summer in cut-offs and t-shirts, working from home, so my more professional stuff is looking kinda ragged.) Well, they sent me two of the same skirt, in the same pattern. I sent one back and asked to exchange it for the same skirt in a different pattern. No problem. About 10 days latter I had the new skirt. Then a few days after that, I received another skirt in the newer pattern. I contacted the store, they said, basically, "oops, records mixup," and sent me a label so I could mail the most recent skirt back. Today I got a message from PayPal that I'd received a refund for returning the latest skirt. So, to sum up, I have two skirts and the shop has my money for one. This would be far less amusing to me if the monetary discrepancy was in the other direction. C'mon, store. I like your stuff. Let me pay you for it.
