I'm sorry about your cousin, askye. I hope things will work out ok for his son.
I don't know that my university is requiring vaccination, but they're certainly encouraging it. There's a big medical program there, so setting up and staffing vaccine distribution sites has seemingly gone fairly smoothly. That's where I got my first shot and have scheduled my second (next Monday).
I'm having kind of amusing billing problem with my favorite mail order clothing shop. Several weeks ago I put some of my tax refund into some new summer work clothes. (I didn't buy any last year because I figured—correctly—that I'd be spending the summer in cut-offs and t-shirts, working from home, so my more professional stuff is looking kinda ragged.) Well, they sent me two of the same skirt, in the same pattern. I sent one back and asked to exchange it for the same skirt in a different pattern. No problem. About 10 days latter I had the new skirt. Then a few days after that, I received another skirt in the newer pattern. I contacted the store, they said, basically, "oops, records mixup," and sent me a label so I could mail the most recent skirt back. Today I got a message from PayPal that I'd received a refund for returning the latest skirt. So, to sum up, I have two skirts and the shop has my money for one. This would be far less amusing to me if the monetary discrepancy was in the other direction. C'mon, store. I like your stuff. Let me pay you for it.
I am trying to bribe mac with a vacation to CA in order to get him to get vaccinated. I am not wording it that way, of course. But CA with the vaccine, me visiting him in TX without. his choice.
Jay is 47. Or he has recently turned 48. I forgot his birthday.. we aren't FB friends. But I did find his girlfriend's FB and she had more info.
He has significant brain damage and there is a 25%chance he will wake up from his coma. She said he does seem to have some responses ...if he acts agitated and she does things she normally would to help him calm down he calms down. But I know that may just be wishful thinking.
And yesterday was his son's 11th birthday.
She has support from her family, friends and her workplace (she mentioned them in her post) and her kids are with their dad right now.
I got the Moderna shot. My arm hurt more in the first 10 mis or so than it does now. I got it in my left arm. Wasn't sure which one. I sleep on my left side but my right arm especially the upper arm has bruises from knocking into fixtures when I'm getting clothes so I figured left arm would be better.
Oh dear, askye. 11 is such a tough age to have to go through all this.
When that status changes, my employer has indicated they may be more open to requiring it.
My company is requiring everyone to get the vaccine when they're eligible, with exemptions for medical or religious reasons (and links to the information about what is considered exempt in the company policy).
And my company is working on setting up a "pop-up" vaccination site at the parent office in AZ, because that's where the manufacturing team and buildings are.

Oh my heart. That poor little boy.

Keep moving your arm — at least that's what I was told, and I think it helped. I had soreness for a couple of days, but I mostly only minded it if Ieaned on it (like up against a doorway, or such).
