Punishingly Intricate

I just got a job offer from a consultancy that's been working on the vaccine distribution plan and I'm pretty tempted even though I don't want to work for any consulting company again. There are so many factors at play with who gets it first and who gets it next, and supply chains so that it can be an annual vaccine from here on out.

Wow I'd love to be working on sorting out that puzzle (in theory!).

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Experienced bread bakers: Are silicone loaf pans okay, or should I go with something more traditional?

The Madwoman in the Attic (who is a professional baker) scoffs in derision at silicone loaf pans. She says they're too flimsy and will change shape, which will affect the bread baking evenly and the texture.

I haven't baked for quite a while and will admit to being a traditionalist for baking, so I'd have qualms about silicone loaf pans. I received some really nice loaf pans a few years back, when I was baking a lot ... maybe I should take it up again.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Wow, Elliot Page (formerly Ellen Page) came out as trans.

I can't imagine how much courage that took, knowing how much hate he'll get for it. But fuck those people.

Even the first few people commenting seemed terribly ignorant. Sometimes I think this puzzlement is feigned, and then sometimes I think of my mom, who is super progressive, but also confused about Caitlyn Jenner.

In Covid news, the ambulances are back up. I have a several senior communities and nursing homes north of me, and there have been about five ambulances going by today. It was really high in March/April, but went back down in the summer.

Volans that sounds like it might be an awful job even if interesting and meaningful. But I too want good people working on it so...good luck?

Works has been insane this morning. Supposed to call about the puppy in an hour. Just want a nap, as I got nearly no sleep last night.

um, it's that time of year again ... here's a BRIEF (thank whatever deity watches over me) video of the White House holiday decor.

But there's something worse! From McMansion Hell. Somehow, it's worse.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Ugh, Mr. S has been awful all day. I wasn't home during the day, but he's not behaving very well at the moment. And the last two days had gone so well...

It's amazing how she manages to have decorations that are neither stylish nor homey. They are not even gloriously tacky or over the top. They're just boring.
