Suela, that sounds much like our mutual friend S.'s tales of the Washington state government. I'm sorry that it's such a cluster.
I am disappointed in the developers of the final section of my current neighborhood - the One Planet Living requirements for a development certified under their standards include that some units be offered at the local price for affordable housing. Yesterday they confirmed that the new homes will all be offered at market prices for the island, which at the moment are running at a median of $1.3 million. The only affordable units in the entire block are the cluster of 12 apartments at the northwest corner, between 500-900 square feet; the condos, townhouses and freestanding homes are at least 1400.
One of my neighbors is a retired attorney and sits on the city housing board; I expect her to raise a stink and will give her what help I can. But given the makeup of the current planning commission and city council, it's likely they'll be breaking ground on that last parcel in the fall.
Spring is really coming on here -- not just daffodils, I'm seeing trees starting to bud with incipient leaves. So that's going on, in a good way.
I am feeling so overwhelmed today, not with actual work but with the idea of projects and things that need/want doing and where to start and what will cost $$ and and and.
I'm sorry, msbelle. Keep breathing.
I think I have talked myself out of ordering anything to be delivered after all. It would be too much money for not enough satisfaction, I'm afraid.
Timelies all!
Mr. S woke up before 6 this morning and was loud and demanding from the start. Another fine start to the day....
I was just kvetching you my sister about how lately everywhere I look I see something else I want/need to spend $2000 on (and one that needs multiple two thousand dollarses) and I’m just paralyzed at decisioning any if it.
That is a brownie disaster meara.
I can’t even cope with HR shenanigans right now but I hope it resolves.

Oh my god, I had no idea how much new windows cost. And our house is tiny! Why does anyone ever own a house? Holy balls.
Chag sameach to those celebrating this weekend. May your Passover be filled with love and joy.
A friend gave me an uber eats gift card recently so I decided to order Caribbean food, which I don’t normally get because there’s none near here. First off, it’s ridiculous that the food was $31 but between fees and tip it was $53 total. Also weird—the order came in three boxes (entree and two sides). One had a tamper resistant tape thing on the top. The other two didn’t. Wtf? Why put it on one side but not the other two boxes? (Didn’t seem like they put it on those and it got ripped off or something. But still weird!!). I’m very full now.
And to you, Karl, and thank you. And to everyone else here who's celebrating.
