Dunkin’ doesn’t make the donuts with the handles any more, do they? Or can I just not get them out here for some reason. The nearest Dunkin to me is something like 12 miles so I don’t go often and could have just missed out, I suppose
The donuts of my childhood were from a non-chain shop about a mile from my house. They were delicious, and my bus stop throughout high school was nearby so that they let us stand around inside on cold mornings made me like them even more. They had warm apple cider, too. Yum.
But a Krispy Kreme that just came down the, shoot, lost the word. Thing that stuff comes down. Argh. Anyway, fresh and hot, those are good. I was somewhat bewildered to learn that they made other varieties of donut than basic glazed, honestly. I think I first had them on a school field trip, which now seems odd. How did that happen? I don’t remember the name of my local donut shop, but I can picture it, and Coffee Call was where the soccer team met before caravanning to away games (for beignets), but Krispy Kreme was somewhere a bus stopped on the way to somewhere else.

Chute?
The best donut shop in Oakland closed last year, then re-opened less than a mile from me a couple of months ago. I still haven't been.
Hey, if anyone listens to the podcast Ologies (which seems like a very Buffista-type of podcast), Our Allison gets a shout-out for Vampire People in an interview with a fanthropologist in the most recent episode. Quite nice.

They stopped,-t. It was their namesake donut, "The Dunkin" (for non Dunks people, it was a plain cake donut with a handle made out of donut).
They also stopped making their crullers (not French crullers, but braided/twisted cake donuts in plain, jelly, chocolate, cinnamon, and sugar). I don't think they make the (airy, yeast) sugar raised donut, which was my favorite.
At least around here, Dunks stopped making them in the shops, and started trucking them in from factory bakeries -- and that's when they went down hill. They're under-cooked to my taste.

Conveyor belt?
Conveyor belt is what I was looking for, but chute is funnier in context. What I was coming up with, for some reason, was tractor beam and I knew that was wrong.
That’s sad about the dunkins, Cindy. I have had limited exposure to DDs in my life, but I liked those.
That’s very cool, Consuela! I’m going to look for that right now.
NY Times has reported on Jensen Karp's Cinnamon Toast Crunch shrimp tail odyssey, too. [link]
Gris that sucks that Brazil doesn’t have good doughnuts!! Here in Seattle there are several good shops, though I’m mostly a fan of Top Pot, which does really amazing cake doughnuts and crullers. There’s a few bougie places with filled yeast doughnuts but I normally feel ridiculous paying $4 for a doughnut. Haven’t tried the latest place though, which just had an everything bagel doughnut that I think was filled with cream cheese?
Mm. Now I want doughnuts.
Also I went to Target and it is still the $100 store even in a pandemic. I spent $99 without even trying. Yikes.
Argh. If anyone can send me good finding” vibes, I cannot for the life of me find my AirPod case. I had it this morning. And it is nowhere to be found. I have the AirPods! Just not the case. It’s either somewhere in my house, or it fell out of my pocket on the way to and from doggy daycare today. But if it’s in the house it is not in any of the usual places I stick it, nor in pockets of the jacket I wore today, nor the purse I carried, nor the pants I was wearing. Grrr.
Find~it~already~ma, meara.
Now I really want the Dunkin. I didn't know they didn't make them anymore since my visits to Dunkin Donuts may be about once a year. Why would they get rid of their best donut?
Going to the zoo this morning with grandson and DIL because apparently it is my job to reach out and suggest going places with them, on a weekday, when I should be working. Per my son. Anyway, DH should be able to cover for me and I will enjoy the zoo and the company. This afternoon going to a customer office to train doctor, tomorrow going to another doctor for myself. So Much Going Places. I really have become accustomed to my couch.
