Fortunately, we were planning on doing a very small (3 person) Thanksgiving anyway. Things are getting a bit scary here in MO, with many counties still refusing to issue mask mandates.

I’m super pissed and bummed at my utterly solo thanksgiving but more so annoyed at people in general. And hoping I don’t get sick a few months from now when there aren’t any doctors or nurses! And definitely hope they’re including hospital staff like housekeeping on those first responders vaccine lists. Because those folks are more likely to be older and minorities and poor and vulnerable and maybe have other family members in low paid “essential” jobs...etc...and someone has to collect and wash the scrubs and sheets and empty trash and so on!

Also rolling my eyes at a friend who has been very strong on her insta in calling people out for unnecessary risks (she works in a hospital and is tested for covid every 2 weeks). She decided to fly to Utah to see her family. And is mad people are calling her out on it. Rolling my eyes so hard. Yes, you could have legit reasons but....you don’t. And your giant Mormon family is v likely to have it/spread it/possibly give it to you and your patients even if you don’t give it to them!

Even if we had family or friends pressuring us (we don't), we have enough threat surface already; I have to go into an office, and we've chosen to keep patronizing two local restaurants (family-owned, they are desperately trying to make it work, we go at odd times when no one is there etc). I feel like that's enough exposure that I don't want to risk us transmitting it by more, closer, interaction.
Also we've done lots of holidays alone overseas, it's fine.
