I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

My stimulus $ showed up in my bank account, yay! I've used it to pay bills, woohoo!

Well, we can pretty much guess where this is going to work out.

Ours hit, too, and it's earmarked for new windows. (Jesus, windows are expensive. I miss being a renter sometimes.) We still need to renovate the bathroom, but we put that off last year because we had no idea how Covid might affect the economy/our jobs. But we seem to be doing fine (medical editing is a fantastic career during a pandemic), so hopefully we can renovate that nasty-ass bathroom this year.

My tier (1c, I think) is now eligible. But the challenge of actually finding an appointment is a bit daunting, now that I'm actually trying to find one.

Tier 1c just opened up this week in my state. I think I'm technically in that group if I play the high BMI card, but I'd feel guilty about adding to the rush since my work isn't public facing and I seem to be less bothered by social distancing than the vast majority of people.

msbelle, my apologies to your mechanic if it was the extra pricey battery at fault.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Just transferred two credit card balances to a 0% card for the next 9 months. I was just going to pay them down with the stimulus, but that is all going to car work now. 0% interest will get me close if not quite to 0 debt.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I'm 1b Tier 3, which is still estimated as opening up 4/12. Meanwhile, I just got a text from the pharmacy where I got my first shingles shot back in January saying I'm now eligible for my second shot. Once I have the shingles shot, I have to wait two weeks before getting a covid shot (or vice versa if I wait for the shingles shot till after I get the covid one).

I'm convinced in the deep superstitious corner of my soul that if I get the shingles booster today, the state will miraculously open up my covid tier weeks ahead of schedule. But I'm equally certain that if I wait, somehow the delays will get even worse and it'll take me so long to get fully vaccinated for covid that I'll be past the 6-month window where I'm supposed to get the shingles booster.

If you could rock-solid guarantee me that I'll be able to get my first covid shot the week of 4/12 and not a moment sooner, I'd go get the shingles booster after work today. But as it is, I'm spinning in a tizzy of indecision, especially since I just learned I *am* already eligible for the waitlist if UWMC has extra shots at the end of the day they need to use before they spoil.

FWIW, I'm holding off on getting a Shingles vax for the same reason.

And I'm really eager to get the Shingles vax now, having seen the mother of Matilda's friend with Shingles for the last several months (half her face is paralyzed, though eventually that will return).

Susan, go get the shingles shot today. Two weeks from today is March 31, which is 13 days before your Covid tier opens. I feel like you can hedge your bet on your tier not opening up before March 31 (I mean, if it opens early, is it likely to open more than 2 weeks early? Probably not). And shingles can be really really fucking bad. Two friends of ours got it in their eyes, and it fucked them up for months and months. One of them could only leave the house at night, and even then had to wear sunglasses, and when he was inside the house, all the lights had to be off and the drapes closed. It was BAD. I'm getting that fucking vaccine as soon as I turn 50.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

That's why I got my first shingles shot the first I could get a chance in January. But now my logic is that I'm probably more immune to shingles now than I was before the first shot, and while both shingles and covid are horrible, covid scares me a hell of a lot more.

Maybe I should just flip a coin. Regardless of what I do, I'm going to stress about possibly having made the wrong choice.
