There's been an oil spill in Israel - I saw a brief article about it earlier - and a number of (endangered) sea turtles were brought in with oil in their breathing passages and their digestive systems. They're cleaning out the airways and are now feeding the turtles mayonnaise, which seemingly cleans out their digestive systems.

Better the turtles than me—I think I'd take my chances with the oil.

Especial bummer is the one person who I’m already friends with on fb (we are acquaintances/friends of friends) who I thought we had flirted in the past...she didn’t even mark me as friends apparently!

Thanks, everybody, for your kindness. My nephew is going to be enrolled in a clinical trial and his treatment starts next week. Hodgkin Lymphoma is very treatable, but his is quite advanced.

I sent him the crystalized ginger [link] hard ginger candies [link] and the ginger-pear drops [link] I decided to hold off on the tea until I know whether he even drinks tea. Thank you for the recommendations.

I'd wanted to send him some comfy pajamas or sweats, but was concerned with the weather changing (and night sweats are an issue for him already due to the cancer). I settled on some plain cotton t-shirts with no tags (itching can be a thing with treatment) and some light, moisture-wicking sweatpants. He's dropped a ton of weight, and I remember how much it upset my own son, when he was at the height of his illness, and his clothes were hanging off him.

I sent my s-i-l a couple of things, too. True to form, Amazon split both of their orders right in the places I didn't want them split.

Cindy, I also found that ginger ale helped - until the chemo changed my taste perception, and ginger ale stopped tasting of ginger and started tasting simultaneously sour and bitter.

I have no idea why the taste of ginger ale changed yet the taste of the ginger candies didn't.

I think it varies both by the individual and the type of chemo involved. So it might not happen to your nephew at all.

I have about a month to go, then I can expect my taste perception to return to normal.
