Good morning, and Happy Thanksgiving, all. Or, have a good Thursday if you are not of the turkey day holiday land.

The only things I did yesterday were the pie and the cornbread so it could dry out for the stuffing, but nothing is particularly challenging, so I have my list of things to prep/chop this morning, and then it's just assembly and baking. I plotted out the oven timing a couple days ago.

In oatmeal news, I added the little bits of leftover dark chocolate from the pie prep to my oatmeal this morning, and as you might imagine, it was yum.

Apparently it's getting up to 68 degrees here today, so there will be a walk in it for us, too, Laura.

Delicious and healthy day to you all. I'm grateful for this place and the people who make it what it is. And I'm grateful to be able to eat this year, I gotta say!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

We're having a lazy morning watching cooking shows, drinking our morning hot beverages, and not really worrying about timing because it doesn't matter. I kind of love it.

We were just saying this. It's so laid back and awesome.

Also, we didn't have to worry about cleaning the whole house while also cooking a big meal.

OK, got my annual listen of "Alice's Restaurant" in, and now I'm gonna take the dog for a run in the park. Ordinarily I would go for a hike with my sister, but she & her BF are visiting his sister.

David & JZ, I'm sorry to hear about Emmet's situation, but you are all being sensible, unlike so many other people.

(Apparently Pandora thinks that music for Thanksgiving morning is... 70s pop with lots of Fleetwood Mac? Ooookay.)

I mean, I guess it’s not NOT thanksgiving music, Consuela...

Thanksgiving miracle the puppy slept until 6am! And then we went back to bed until 7...at which point I successfully bribed him to sleep/be quiet another 45 minutes. Woot!!

Haven’t cooked anything yet but it’s early here. Having English muffin and OJ and tea for first breakfast then we’ll see. Haven’t decided when to eat?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Ok, I have the apricot-ginger sweet potatoes, cranberry curd pie, and Waldorf salad made. In about 20 minutes the Cornish hens will go in the oven and I’ll start on the dressing, gravy, and asparagus. The neighbor with whom I’m distantly dining is bringing the wine. A friend will be dropping off cranberry relish in return for sweet potatoes and a slice of pie. I think TG is going as well as can be expected. (Knocks wood). This time last year I was sick as a dog, barely able to get off the couch for fluids, and Trump was going to be president for at last one more year. The pandemic is terrible, but there are some rays of light in my present situation.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I have a Thanksgiving cold, which is mostly a throat full of razors, a runny nose, and itchy eyes. But at least we weren't going anywhere today. And I made the pumpkin pie last night, so that's good. Everything else for today's menu is easy enough to make, and I can have hot toddys all day.

Our wings are not tired.

May the hot toddys help the ick, Steph.

I have the turkey breast in the slow cooker. Standard, boring, but nonetheless tasty sides of sweet potatoes, white potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce to follow. I anticipate massive carb coma.

Now WKRP is queued up on the TV, just waiting for DH to come in and join me. He has been working all day.

Alas, I missed my morning walk and slept in until 8:15, which shockingly late. But too hot already as I can't walk a mile in full sun. So I plan on 2 walks later, maybe at 7 PM and 10 PM or something. I've been doing one in the morning and one at night, but generally it is like 6:30 in the morning. I love Florida, but I can't deal with much outside physical activity in daylight, unless water is involved.
