I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Ok, I have the apricot-ginger sweet potatoes, cranberry curd pie, and Waldorf salad made. In about 20 minutes the Cornish hens will go in the oven and I’ll start on the dressing, gravy, and asparagus. The neighbor with whom I’m distantly dining is bringing the wine. A friend will be dropping off cranberry relish in return for sweet potatoes and a slice of pie. I think TG is going as well as can be expected. (Knocks wood). This time last year I was sick as a dog, barely able to get off the couch for fluids, and Trump was going to be president for at last one more year. The pandemic is terrible, but there are some rays of light in my present situation.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I have a Thanksgiving cold, which is mostly a throat full of razors, a runny nose, and itchy eyes. But at least we weren't going anywhere today. And I made the pumpkin pie last night, so that's good. Everything else for today's menu is easy enough to make, and I can have hot toddys all day.

Our wings are not tired.

May the hot toddys help the ick, Steph.

I have the turkey breast in the slow cooker. Standard, boring, but nonetheless tasty sides of sweet potatoes, white potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce to follow. I anticipate massive carb coma.

Now WKRP is queued up on the TV, just waiting for DH to come in and join me. He has been working all day.

Alas, I missed my morning walk and slept in until 8:15, which shockingly late. But too hot already as I can't walk a mile in full sun. So I plan on 2 walks later, maybe at 7 PM and 10 PM or something. I've been doing one in the morning and one at night, but generally it is like 6:30 in the morning. I love Florida, but I can't deal with much outside physical activity in daylight, unless water is involved.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Hello Everyone! Happy Thanksgiving!

I decided to try and be normal, even though I am alone, so I made myself a strict schedule to have dinner by 3 pm. I am going to try to make a small plate for Petunia and maybe eat with her at the table and take pictures if she lets me. I bought a Dollar Store Thanksgiving Table cloth.

I am having ham, mashed cauliflower, asparagus and Keto cheesecake fat bombs. I am also going to cook Keto stuffing because my boss is bring me turkey sometime today. I have talked to my mom, but we are seriously out of things to talk about. I know this when I start telling her the plots of things I am watching on Netflix or about YouTube videos.

I just described this to her: [link] I think that actually needs both the visual and the song!

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate. A bit later we will reheat the food we got from the gourmet market for our dinner. (Turkey, gravy, mashed sweet potato, stuffing, cranberry sauce, rolls and pumpkin pie for dessert.)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Happy Thanksgiving! I am very grateful for all my Buffistas.

I've got most of my food prepped, just have to get the bird in the oven then make the fancy M&C for Emmett.

We're driving up to meet him halfway at Novato (in Marin). I think I might swing by with a plate for EM too if she's at home.

I've decided we're going to watch Return of the Pink Panther tonight.

move out and draw fire

Happy Thanksgiving, or Happy Random Thursday! I'm grateful to be able to hang with you guys again.

I'm so glad your son's test came back negative, Cindy! Thinking good thoughts for all the other covid tests happening now.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Happy Thanksgiving, Buffistas. May you and yours be well, get negative tests, and have alllllll the pie. Can't really remember what Thanksgiving is about, but pie sounds awesome. Thankfully I'm eating right now or this thread would have made me very hungry.

My last client's payroll software was so old and poorly designed that it couldn't handle the covid drawdown. We had to go into the root and re-code it six times in the first 6 weeks of quarantine. It's in COBOL.

Hi-five had-to-deal-with-COBOL-programs-at-work-people. And running integration checks on processes that never meant to do the thing we were trying to make them do.

Thanksgiving miracle the puppy slept until 6am! And then we went back to bed until 7...at which point I successfully bribed him to sleep/be quiet another 45 minutes. Woot!!

Go puppy!

My dark chocolate bourbon pecan pie is out of the oven and looks good

Your ideas are intriguing to me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Stands in awe of Atropa's tactfully saying the "truth" writing skills.

Wow. Totally. How do you write "you keep asking me to handle things that are more complicated than they seem to be at first, so my original goals for 2020 are far from being completed and it's fine by me but it's no way of long term planning, and also, why the hell third of my colleagues don't wear masks so I've banished myself to work in an isolated room, praying none of them will get COVID"?

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Buffistas celebrating. Even if I don't get to Natter that often, I am very thankful for all the Buffistas near and far. This year I'm especially thankful for the new board and everyone who made it happen.

No cooking for me today. Hoping to get a full spread at Tommy's Joynt, an SF institution in my neighborhood that is best described as a comfort food meateteria. They always do takeaway at Thanksgiving but, since we are usually at Pix and ND's place [insert sad face here], I have no idea what the lines are like.
