I saw some clips from President Biden's town hall. There was one brief section where an eight-year-old girl asks about being vaccinated ... and he gave it his best grandfather advice. He told her she'd be all right and that her mother (who was there with her) would be all right and said all the reassuring things he'd probably say to his own grandchildren. sniff ....

Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I bless the gas stove - it's self-igniting, which I'm hoping means it'll work in the event of a power failure. I do keep matches, since I occasionally burn candles and in the event the stove doesn't light itself.
Our stove is electric (which I don't care about, because I grew up with an electric stove and, to be totally honest, gas stoves kinda scare me), but in the event of a power outage that coincides with the need to boil something/brew coffee, we have a camp stove in the attic.
I got the vaccine!! I’m volunteering today at a vaccine clinic and wasn’t sure if I would but I did!!! For that it was worth getting up at 430am. Coming back again tomorrow. Crossing my fingers I don’t get COVID from talking to all the people today but sooo glad.
Woo hoo, vaccine!
Yay, vaccine!
I've signed up ... I shouldn't be last on the list but the city's trying to get people in the less affluent areas vaccinated first. Of course, with my move last summer, I ended up in THE affluent area, so that bumps me down a bit.
I'm sorry that didn't work out to your advantage, Toddson, but I'm glad to hear the city is looking out for the less affluent. Hope you don't have to wait too long.
Yay, meara!!!
I'm having a "would not wish anyone dead, but would read certain obituaries with great interest" response to the news of Limbaugh's death.
Is it wrong to feel it would have been fine for him to have suffered painfully a while longer, so long as he wasn't well enough to be on the air? That is where I am with Trump. I don't want him to die. I want him to suffer, preferably in prison.
My upstairs neighbor has a hibachi. I have a fire pit. Coffee will happen.
I have all kinds of sympathy for Texans and Louisianans dealing with snow and ice. However, I will never stop mocking O'Hare Airport for completely falling apart due to less than 2 inches of snow (no ice) in November, 2019. Because it's in Chicago.
Yeah, you have to figure on snow in Chicago in the winter. I was once in Chicago on business and made a fast trip to the airport to get out ... which turned out for the best as one of the people I'd been meeting with told me they'd had a "Saskatchewan Screamer" not too long afterwards.
