Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
What are people up to this weekend? You people, that is.
I'm planning to make a cake today, though first I'm going to the farmers market and then by the store to get some frosting, since I decided that the homemade icing recipe that comes with the cake recipe is more trouble than it's worth. Then I'm one of the readers at tonight's Easter Vigil service at my church.
Then tomorrow we have a ham for Easter dinner all because a few weeks ago at Dylan's work, there was some reshuffling and one of his direct reports was sent to another manager's team. He wasn't immediately given a replacement, so he quipped that he'd been given a 2nd and a 4th-round draft pick, plus a bag of baseballs and a ham. A few days later, a honey-baked ham arrives on our doorstep, courtesy of the other manager.
Insofar as I have a traditional Easter dinner at all, it's either to make Alton Brown's pork wellington recipe or to get lazy and pick up a nice box of fried chicken from the QFC down the road. But I will not turn up my nose at free ham.

I took off yesterday and the plan was to do yard work, but I did absolutely nothing instead.
Today I did not sleep in as long so I am trying to motivate. 1 load of laundry in and I’m straightening up the downstairs. A friend is coming over to hang out in 3 hours, so that’s the motivation to get things in order.
I had choir rehearsal this morning, now errands and making a lemon meringue pie. Tomorrow, church for Easter and then fam coming over for ham dinner.
Good roll call.
Calli - that is so cool!
I'm in between pedicure and meeting my friend for lunch. Puppy sleeping on my legs. So far so good.
It will probably be just me and some Jews for our Town Hall tomorrow, but our Easter celebration is too small to act busy from.
I went for a run this morning, and I have to write up staff reviews today. But tomorrow I go see Bruce Springsteen! (Possibly for the last time, who knows?)
My weekend is household chores (lawnmowing, laundry) and errands, then over to Mom's Sunday night to have her traditional Easter ham for dinner. I might squeeze in a movie matinee tomorrow if I feel like it.
I have a sink full of dishes to do, which I am resentful about because I already conquered a sink full of dishes earlier in the week.
I haven't run as much this week as usual, and also ate like crap yesterday so I really should go running since it's not currently raining.
I think what I'm saying here is that I will get in a run that I don't want to do as a way of avoiding the dishes for another hour.
No real plans for Easter as that was JZ's bailiwick: taking Matilda to mass, getting basket together, dealing with Greek relatives and dying eggs.
I suppose I should get a token basket together for Matilda.
I do have half a little ham so I could make another pot of the ham green bean thing, as that was popular around the house and delicious.
I’ve got the roomba going, so the room is getting more presentable.
I’ve also got dishes to wash, but first get the shoe area in order.
This weekend I am focused on overdue housekeeping. You cannot imagine the amount of sand that makes its way into my place. The dog park is a sandpit, and we bring so much home. I am going to attempt a new plan where I keep a pair of specific park sandals next to the door, ones without sand grabbing treads. Go to park, stamp feet in parking lot, drive home then stamp feet again in parking garage, then leave special shoes next to door. It is mostly his shoes which grab tons on the stuff in the treads. It wouldn't bother me quite as much if it didn't make the floor so treacherous when you hit a patch of the stuff.
No particular plan for Easter, except maybe walk over to the beach for sunrise. There will probably be more than the usual yoga types there tomorrow.
