This weekend I am focused on overdue housekeeping. You cannot imagine the amount of sand that makes its way into my place. The dog park is a sandpit, and we bring so much home. I am going to attempt a new plan where I keep a pair of specific park sandals next to the door, ones without sand grabbing treads. Go to park, stamp feet in parking lot, drive home then stamp feet again in parking garage, then leave special shoes next to door. It is mostly his shoes which grab tons on the stuff in the treads. It wouldn't bother me quite as much if it didn't make the floor so treacherous when you hit a patch of the stuff.
No particular plan for Easter, except maybe walk over to the beach for sunrise. There will probably be more than the usual yoga types there tomorrow.
I have: gotten groceries, filled up the car with gas, gotten the car washed, and went to the bank.
I still need to: change the sheets and ride the bike. Today's ride will be 8 weeks in a row of riding the bike 5 times a week -- I haven't done any kind of cardio [walking, biking, etc] 5 times a week since before Covid. I'm proud of my progress, but also, my legs are sore. I need to find a massage therapist.
Tomorrow is the 300-Eggstravaganza with Tim's family. We're bringing salad, fancy appetizers, and lots of wine.
2nd load of laundry is in. Most of the dishes are done. Couch is mostly cleaned off. Shoes are put away. Stairs are de-furred a little.
I just took my lemon meringue pie out of the oven, and mistakes were made, but it looks OK. I just hope it doesn't disrespect my grandmother's memory.
And why would an antibiotic for a cat smell like bubblegum? Makes no sense.
Pediatric meds. It's that or cherry. If only kids wanted tuna flavored meds.
It also comes in bubblegum flavor for dogs. They haaatessss it.
I just made up a non-food Easter basket for my sister. Easter is not something I pay much attention to, but I can tell she’s been thinking about it and missing it. But we’ve been doing this reduced carb thing and making a lot of progress. So. Basket with colorful paper straw, grow-a-sunflower kit, piña colada sugar-free gum, Bluetooth dongle so she can connect her headphones to the treadmill at the gym, Hello Kitty Lip Smackers, a mini spring colors Lite Brite set, and some little mini bags of pistachios. Not too bad I think!
Now I just have to remember to put it out in the middle of the night.
Aww that’s super sweet of you Brenda!
I had brunch with friends who were staying with me for the night, then drove them to the airport. Took the dog to the park and have done zero else. Will probably drag myself to the store eventually but the real question is will I buy ingredients for anything or just the things on my list? I was tempted to make this ricotta pie until I saw that even at 1/8 of a pie it was over 500 calories per slice! And living alone id eat all of it. So…maybe not.
I changed the sheets and then rode the bike, making it 8 weeks in a row of biking 5x a week (95% of the times biking 30 minutes or longer). My reward is going to be Nepalese food for dinner and watching Winter Soldier.
Did pedi, lunch was really great, ran errands for husband (who is obsessed with In the Heights today, which, forgive me, I love LMM, but it just isn't my beautiful cake, which I don't quite understand, and yet is true) -- then ran a second errand for him.
Then we ordered Chinese food, and I'm not actually hungry, so I guess I have food for tomorrow. No complaints.
I think I'm going to go to Easter services tomorrow at the church I used to go to when I did that sort of thing -- really great place and people, and Easter music is my favorite, atheism notwithstanding, and they're celebrating the completion of the new mixed use building that went up on the land where the old church used to be. So that should be neat.
Ah, bless! He's playing Hamilton now... which is my beautiful cake.
Then I think we're going back to watching House.
My new beautiful cake is Cowboy Carter, which I am obsessed with.
