Oh my gosh, reading the news about the bridge, that is so scary, especially the video! Good thing it happened in the middle of the night or it would’ve been so much worse, but still. Yikes.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

It sounds like it could have been worse? NPR says the ship sent out a mayday, so officials were able to slow down/stop traffic. Obviously, it's still terrible.

Our wings are not tired.

The captain must have been frantic knowing he was going to crash. I can't imagine.

Punishingly Intricate

I just heard both that authorities don’t believe there are any cars in the water and sonar is indicating there are cars in the water

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

One of the things that came out with my conversation with Lola yesterday, is that Isabella's father (Simon) has decided he's not going to pay for half of her school expenses.

Isabella is a talented artist who just got into Parsons and RISD.

Simon's reasoning is that he "wants her to stand on her own two feet."

He's a high paid tech exec with a house in Marin. (Lola and Simon divorced years ago and they both remarried.)

In short, Simon is a completely fuckhole and failure as a father and human being.

When Lola dies where is there going to be any money to pay for Isabella's education?

If Isabella takes a gap year, is she really going to want to stay with Simon for a year when he's so unsupportive? Ugh. It's so messy.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

In re Baltimore - early this morning, I was listening to an interview with Gov. Moore. Someone asked him how long he thought it would take to rebuild the bridge and, to his credit, he replied that they were looking to rescue anyone who was in the water at that time. There was a crew repairing potholes, but at 1:30am, there wasn't much traffic. They had crews from the Coast Guard looking for anyone who might be in the water.

Wow. I just can't. It makes me all the more grateeful for all the wonderful humans in my life.

Wow what an asshole. I’d wonder if there was anything in the divorce decree about funding education? I hope maybe Lola has life insurance. But still. What a piece of shit.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Just came over to check on Baltimore contingent. Happy to see that all are well.

Yes, me too.

In short, Simon is a completely fuckhole and failure as a father and human being.

I had much the same thing happen with my father refusing to help pay for my college because he "wasn't consulted" (I took the best scholarship available & he hadn't expressed interest in the process (luckily my mom was & is healthy)). It was the straw that broke the camel's back, and I ended up fully cutting contact with him years later. I hope Simon sees how terrible his behavior is ASAP.
